Thank you for the nice comment. I agree that they are special birds. These were shot with the AF-S Nikkor 70-300 VR lens. I have always had good results with this lens. It does a good job and is not overly heavy.

Very nice - I thought about getting the "body only" on my Nikon and getting this lens separately but the price of the kit made the 18-55 & 55-200 at only $100 each so I felt I couldn't lose. I will hone my skills and save up for the longer zoom. By the way, I am from Anna Maria Island, FL and your pics make me homesick lol.

Excellent job,Carol. Your backgrounds really enhance their portraits.

Thank you. The close up had foliage in the background that I was able to darken. The other was water so it worked out well. I'm glad you like them.

I started with the same two lenses you have and they did a good job. Getting lenses with a new camera is the most economical way! I lived in Bradenton for several years and used to go to Anna Maria a lot. We fished in Palma Sola Bay and I had a great time photographing Pelicans out there. I posted a number of series from the Ringling Museum a few month ago. That is a great area over there!

Okay, just looked at your pics from Sarasota and Ringling - Now I'm REALLY homesick thank you very much! Loved the pink hue hallway pic by the way at Ringling -really great composition and tone.

I had a feeling those might get to you and I think that hallway shot was my favorite. It was a fun trip but I was amazed at how Ringling has changed. I left that area close to 30 years ago but have gone back a few times to visit.

Both of these are superb photos Carol, but I think the first is really striking.

On a recent trip to Black Point Wildlife Drive, this lovely creature was the first resident that I encountered. Not only a beauty, but also a willing subject within reason!

Fantastic images Carol

Thank you Tom. The green face was amazing to me and that first shot really does show it!

Gorgeous shots, Carol. I especially like the close up with the pretty green around his eyes.
