China Shows Off Its Brand New Naval Aircraft Carrier

China has a new Aircraft Carrier. Its only one, to flex its Naval power, especially in the South China Sea, where tensions are rising. This Chinese Aircraft Carrier is not as advanced as most American Aircraft Carriers. Any country is entitled to build a military force. But this Carrier signifies nothing but trouble for the US, in future years. http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/a24766/china-aircraft-carrier/

This is very interesting, everything I've heard in the past couple years is that the Russians and Chinese have aircraft and ships that are far better than the US. Their fighters are so much better that ours wouldn't stand much of a chance against them, the F-35 especially. I couldn't figure out how that happened, how would our military allow them that much of an edge? This story seems to refute that opinion, thanks for sharing.

I am in no way a navy strategist but against a nuclear power would not most all surface ships be completely obsolete? If a true war like that of WWII where no holds barred war was waged any carrier no matter how wonderful is going to be sunk. They look like just big targets.
Now for superpowers to go after third world countries and project power they work wonderfully. But look at the "Powerful" Hood and how long that pride of the British navy lasted when actually confronted in real combat.
It does worry me them wanting to project power though as the USA has shown such weakness in the world lately resulting in chaos. We do not need to be in nation building but let dictators know like Reagan did with Qaddafi and he laid low from then until the mess of made of Libya recently, same for Iraq.

Anything made by man can fail, as my father use to say. A common slogan. The US could indeed sink this Chinese Carrier quickly if need be. The Chinese Navy stole an underwater US Navy Sea Drone last year, that was in International Waters near the Philippines. It was used to map the sea floor, The Chinese returned it ,after claiming it was used for spying. It was not. The Iranian Navy kidnapped American Sailors not long ago, from their own vessel, and held them for quite a while, at gunpoint. That American vessel did accidentally stray in Iranian Waters. But the treatment of those sailors was unnecessary. The Chinese now claim the South China Sea belongs to them. And the Russians say a large part of the Artic Region belongs to them. The Russians have intensely increased Naval and military action, in large parts of Artic, to lay claims to oil up there. A lot of oil is up there. As much as 13% of the World's supply.

Of course using new technologies the USA has the largest potential oil reserves in the world. Saudia Arabia falls to third behind Russia.

That's good news. The US won't need to beg for Putin's oil. But there will still be a market for it in other countries. I'm sure.

Lets see Russia has an economy the size of Mexico and China has a jump aircraft carrier that it rebuilt from an old russian one.

Yes we are indeed threatened by these two countries.

And the US borrows billions of dollars from China too. The US owes China money.

So what. We don't pay what are they going to reposses?
It is like when the Japanese were buying real estate here and people panicked. They can't pick it up and take it with them if things go south.

What does China want? They want to control the South China Sea, and later the Western Pacific Ocean. They want Taiwan back, and small islands that are claimed by Japan and the Philippines. This cannot be allowed.

Kinda reminds you of the Japanese back in the 1930's doesn't it?

And what would you have us do about it? Go to war? The UN is a joke and we are too weak to do anything at this point because they already have the islands. Would we throw Tiwan under the bus? I bet we would like we did by kicking them off the security council and recognizing mainland China.

The newly appointed Secretary Of Defense, General Mattis, has stated to the Mainland Chinese Government, that the U.S. would defend Taiwan if they attack the island. Maybe it is was just talk, but he told them that. I am not a war monger. But I believe a country has a right to defend its territory from aggressors, with very bad intentions, like China. Just as America did against the aggressor Japan, during WW2.

We all can hope. But are we willing to risk war with China. To date since WW II we have only picked on 3rd world countries with some help they got from China or the Soviets but no admitted direct conflict. We did the same with Afghanistan when the Soviets invaded them.
