Media photographers are too noisy.
Just watching a trump media event with our prime minister Justin Trudeau, and you can barely hear them talk because there is an extremely noisy background barrage of camera shutters. How annoying! Two questions:
1. Why on earth do the photographers need 100's if not 1000's of photos to get one good enough for their media platform?
2. Why on earth do they NOT put there cameras in " silent mode"? My 5D has this feature and I assume most cameras do as well. Professional photographers have high end cameras that must offer a silent mode. I don't believe they are using flash since the lighting is very good so we can't blame it on flashes.

This thread is headed for the 'attic', with silly inane and obviously politically motivated posts like this.
I suppose the reason would be to capture the exact moment wherein the picture tells all. Were we not taught that a picture is worth a thousand words. Also, have you noticed that pictures of politicians are those with the mouth open. The message to me is that a politician has only one working organ: the mouth. Note the one most popular Trump photo is the one where he is saying the F word.

Yep. With today's technology you don't just get the shutter sound, you get to hear wind noise - "The Fart of the Deal"!
Well I am hearing hundreds of shutter sounds and wondering why they don't put the cameras in silent mode. One post however mentions that the media sound compression ( whatever that is) is responsible for the excess loudness we here on television.

You expect people to be considerate to or respectful of others? How last century is that?

Well this noise occurs whether it's a big or small event. When celebrities are photographed by paparazzi or press photographers the same noise occurs and my simple question is " why don't they put their cameras in silent mode?". They must know from watching television that it sounds ridiculously loud and I wonder what benefit is derived from creating this noise, when a simple click makes the camera so much quieter. If you don't know why, let someone who does comment.

My new Olympus E-M5 II has such a quiet shutter you almost think it's broken until you see the shot on the screen.
It also has an EVF that even impresses a viewfinder hater like me.
