It's not just the specific heat of the two different molecules ... it has to do with the PHYSICS of the radiant energy ... a little bit like how the inside of your car is much hotter than the outside air ... the short wavelengths come through the glass ... warm up the surfaces inside ... and then the longer IR radiation cannot as easily pass back through the glass and is trapped....

So how deep into the ocean does the heat penetrate?

Doesn't have to warm the ocean ... once the radiant energy hits the surface of the ocean it changes from short wavelength light to longer wavelength Infra Red ... the infra red (heat) is then not able to radiate back out into space.

The big question is "how much?" The fact that "warmists" are beginning to focus on methane as a contributor hints to me that they are not so convinced that their models are so valid anymore.
