I shot this recently when a lightning storm came through our area. I was able to take this shot before I was bombarded by rain. Thankfully, I was able to get under shelter before my camera was damaged. I used my new Nikon D3300 with a shutter speed of 8 seconds, an aperture of f/5.6, and an ISO of 100. The lightning strike may not be as awe inspiring in the print as you might have hoped
but the bare twisted limbs of your tree more than make up for it.
You are right. I was hoping for a better bolt, but that was all I got. But I do really like the outline. That is why I posted it. If you squint your eyes, the outline made by the surrounding tree makes a tree shape on the subject.
