Have checked the "Search" feature and could not find exactly what I am looking for.
Sam's has a 50% off now thru 2/17/2017 on canvas prints so I thought I would give them a try. A 16 X 20 canvas print for $22.00. Need to know how to set up image for this size. I use Lightroom 5.7 for processing. Would download image to desktop then either to flash drive, if I bring to store, or upload from desktop to website. Question is how to size image before export to desktop.
File Settings:
Image format - JPEG
Color Space - ProPhoto RGB
Quality - 100
Limit file size to _______
Image Sizing:
Resize to Fit:
W______________
H______________
Resolution__________ Pixels per inch
Also, to pick photo size in crop section I am guessing 8 X 10?
Thanks for any assistance.
Don
Not many places use ProPhoto RGB.
A lot of them use just sRGB or convert to that.
You sure they will print ProPhoto RGB?
Is is a gallery wrap?
You will need to allow for that extra part the goes around the sides too. Try to find out that size.
A friend of mine just adds a 1inch black border to his image to keep the image he wants on the front- on the front.
I think Costco's gallery wrap is about an inch thick.
Looks like a good deal though!

Since you are limiting your file prep to LR you will need final dimensions for the 16 x 20 wrap (which is a 4:5 ratio crop) to be 19 x 23 (which is not a 4:5 ratio crop).
If I had unimportant parts on all edges of my image I might just export the un-cropped image at its original resolution. I would then use Sam's software and template to position and crop the photo after uploading.
If
I already had a 4:5 ratio crop with no available waste, and only LR to process, I would take the processed photo to the print module. From there I would use the settings indicated for a JPEG print. When printed it would give you a 16x20 image plus a 1.5" border on each side and should fit perfectly in Sam's template.
.
When you are choosing the picture in the store it will show the lap on the frame and you can adjust there.
Why not call or visit Sam's photocenter and seek their advice. I've had many canvas prints done by Costco. Their service reps, online or in store, are very helpful. If you upload the image to Sam's online service, you'll find the software will help resize the image and also indicate when the resolution is insufficient for a quality print. You can play with it online, without completing the order.

Yes, you should use the crop feature in LR to the size of your print or a ratio of that. In your case, 16x20 is the same as 8x10 or 4x5
But someone else here brought up a valid point; The wrap. If I were you I'd take a look at their picture website and do a practice run. It may actually give you a "what you see is what you get" view of your ready to upload and buy canvas. I know that's how the Costco website worked when I had some coffee cups made. I get a view of the cup and several times I didn't like it but kept cropping my image until I got the look I want.
You just need to see if they offer the wrap in white, black, part of the image or what. I do think they will offer a white side wrap or part of the image.
Use sRGB as the color space. Most consumer labs want sRGB color spaces but some of the Pro Labs will print Adobe RGB but those are the labs that deal with CYMK printing etc.
Goofy, Rick, Ny5Y, Mark & Jeep Daddy, thank you all for your responses & suggestions. You make valid points and I will check them out. Again, thanks for kind & knowledgeable assistance.

My pleasure Don.
Good luck with your canvas prints. They are beautiful/cool. I have 4 or 5 large ones.

Your ratio would be 8x10, format jpeg, but I'd stick with sRGB color space to avoid bad surprises.
I have never used Sams to print, but have ordered canvas prints from other companies and you need to make some decisions about the mount and the way the canvas edge wraps around the mount when you order. The places I've ordered from let you size online in their software to get an idea how it will look. Some companies offer different options about how to treat the wrap. Basically, if I have extra unimportant space at the edge of the frame (about an inch on each side but this can vary too), I let them print the photo as is. BUT - if I have picture elements that'll end up too close to the edge once that inch is gone, I choose one of the options that let them interpolate picture material for the wrap, or choose some other option like a color. I have also done my own enlargements to allow for the wrap when I really want the look of the picture extending all the way to the edge, with content-aware fill for the extra part.
Word of advice - make sure they are putting the wrap together for you. I once ordered from a company I didn't know, and they sent the photo on rolled canvas and a pile of sticks that I was supposed to glue and tack together to make a frame. Disaster. Never ordered from them again.
Thanks Minnie, I will keep all of your suggestions in mind.
