Interesting Pat. That does look like a lot of work!

It really was. Some people like to go back to the good ol' days, but they surely worked - this would have been a cold and very wet process..

This is my weeks accomplishment. I travel this road every day going to work and this intersection is an insurance companies nightmare as there are 5 roads leading into this intersection. At certain times of the year, the sun rises directly above the downtown buildings and directly over West 7th street. I have been stopping by each day for a week trying to get this shot and finally did. Unfortunately it was really cold and windy that day. Not RR's or Pat's definition of cold but, cold none the less.

Paul, that one is a terrific image. You and several others here impress me with your persistence at pursuing an image - you have it in your mind and then work to create it. Great job.

Lower Manhattan (New York City) contains a marvellous melange of massive buildings by countless different architects. These three buildings from different time periods caught my eye about 1975. My approach was experimental and may not suit everybody because it violates some rules about architectural photography. So sue me! The camera was a Brooks-Plaubel Veriwide 100 equipped with a fixed 47-mm/f:8 Schneider Super-Angulon lens. That's a 120 roll-film image, 2-1/4" x 3-1/2" negative, 7 frames per roll. It was designed in America and built in Germany. My intent in this composition was to create a still photo that simulated the effect of a movie pan upwards.

WOW, RichardQ. I'd say you met your effect and got it. I don't know the camera of which you speak, but it sounds large, few pix per roll and would take a lot of skill to set up for the image one wants to create. Rules? Well, back then ...some of the rules may not have been "invented" and if they were, so what! You got a super image that lasts the test of Time.

My 15 year old son Dakota had a great week. He got his drivers permit and joined the Civil Air Patrol two weeks ago and went on his first flight yesterday.

He was a little star struck as one of the Pilot's that fly's the Cadets was an Astronaut and Pilot on John Glenn's last space mission.

How exciting!

I'd be so afraid of falling! Especially after doing a one legged spin or triple axel.

Covered in ice - like. Mine never seem to turn out like that - and I am going for images similar to yours.

Lorima, my congratulations to Dakota on his adventurous week! I'm glad to hear that the Civil Air Patrol is still in business. I joined them in 1943 and left in 1945 when the Army Air Force Reserves called me up for active service in WW II. Dakota might be interested in the attached CAP photo from August, 1944. I'm in the front row, fourth from photo right. My younger brother is on my left. The aircraft was a Consolidated Vultee B-24 "Liberator" bomber.

Although we do enjoy the winter snow......we were quite ready to escape overcast, cold days for some warm time in the Caribbean. We arrived home last week after taking a 5 day cruise. Enjoying the warmth that my photos captured & will share a little of that today. Our daughter, Heather, was able to join us making for some nice new memories. Bob

SO glad you could get away. Thanks for making me feel warmer...

Love these. How did you get that effect? What software do you use?

I used Lightroom on all to begin with. 1st 2 were all Lightroom with some haze and soft presets. (they uploaded darker than they looked on my computer). The 3rd one started in lightroom and then I went to OnOnePhotoRAW for some effects, texture and the border. Can literally do one image hundreds of ways... Thanks for asking.

OK stuck my head out the door - our 24 hr snowstorm is underway.A real "N'oreaster" which is expected to become a blizzard over night (wind gusts of more than 45 MPH) and not quit till tomorrow evening - after dumbing at least 24". With the winds it will be difficult to get an accurate snow depth here at the house. All set with water, generator, heater, lights - just in case power goes out. This is what it looked like 30 minutes ago. Getting whiter by the second. Uploaded too dark again ....
