Found some used lights that I think I got a good deal on. 3 Alien Bee 800's with 7" reflectors, 22" beauty dish, 36x60 softbox, Vagabond mini battery pack. This is all in great shape and was 600.00. Thoughts??

Check Paul C. Buff's web site...
http://www.paulcbuff.comONE AB 800 with 7" reflector is $299... The Vagabond Mini is $240.
Yeah, you got a pretty good deal!
Week's class assignment: High key portrait.
Sounds like a good deal, are you going to use them? I wouldn't mind having them but I know I don't have a place to set them up, so would not a good deal in my situation, think carefully, Bob.

The price of a new Alien Bee 800 straight from Buff would be $280 each, with the 7" reflectors. Then a 22" beauty dish adds $80, the Vagabond Mini adds $240 and the softbox another $160. The total price for a new set of exactly the same equipment would be more than 2 times what you are paying! And we might note that used Paul C Buff equipment brings premium prices on eBay. The new price would be $1320, and I doubt you'd find the same equipment for less than $1000 on eBay.
Count your lucky stars... if and only if you need it and were likely to buy it otherwise. But in any case now there are a few other expenses! You really do want to think about two more Vagabond Mini power supplies, to have one for each light. That eliminates cords running around that people trip on. Then you need Cybersync radio triggers. I would recommend one Cyber Commander to use hand held, one camera mounted CST2 trigger, and then 3 each CSR+ AC powered receivers to mount on the strobes.
Not to mention 3 each light stands (make sure you get air cushioned models). And you might want at least one snoot, set of barn doors, grids, gels, etc.
Then you need two other things... a good looking free model to make use of it all, and a rich uncle to pay for it all. But that said, you'll really enjoy the results too.
I will use them a lot. Have been doing a lot of portraits, senior pics, proms, kencinerias (sp), etc. Have been using the lights at school and really needed my own.

As I said before great deal!!
My kit consist of 5 B400's, 1 B800 (converted from a B1600) and one B1600,2 30X60 softboxes, one 48" Apollo Hallo umbrella and 1 10X36" strip softbox with a egg crate grid ,2 sets of Honey comb grids, and an assortment of heavy duty light stands three wireless receivers and one transmitter, These are older units and IM sure the newer model far surpass them.
The reason for the conversion of the 1600 to 800 was because the 1600 was really too much light for my use and I overloaded the 1600 with heat in a softbox and the capacitor failed, Paul C Buff repaired the unit and down sized it at no charge and paid the return shipping.
