have used microsoft photo gallery for years as well as canon dpp4.

photo gallery is fast and easy and mostly does what i want.
just got a new windows 10 computer and tried to load photo gallery.
no longer available to download. no longer supported. kaput.
still have it on my w-7 machine.

the dpp is pretty limited for doing much to j-pegs which i have quite a few.

im looking for a new program to load onto the new machine.
i am fine w buying one...rather buy than rent probably.
ideas?

is it time to move to lightroom?

Try PSP before you choose an Adobe product, easier to learn, I haven't found anything that I need/want to do that it can't, 30 day free trial, Bob.

If you are just looking for a photo viewer and not something to modify photos, why not just use the Windows 10 Photo app? RIght click on one of your jpgs and choose Open with, then Choose another app. Select Photos and click on the always use box.

I'm still, and intend to stay, on W7 on my computer. For small, general edits I'm using Fast Stone. I don't know if it's updated to W10 or not but since it's a free download it won't cost anything. Good Luck.

Then look at ACDSee Pro. I believe there's a free version.

Look at FastStone Image Viewer. It is free and works well.

You may be able to get photo gallery from sites like this: https://windows-live-photo-gallery.en.softonic.com/

It may well work. Paintshop Pro is relatively inexpensive and is being maintained which is an advantage. If you go to Lightroom / Photoshop I would definitely go for the CC subscription version at $10 a month to stay up to date. I expect the standalone (perpetual license) versions will go away before long so another potential headache from a support point of view.

Good luck

Windows 10 has it's own post processing software which is basically an updated version of Photo Gallery.
