I have been looking at WACOM tablets.
I saw reconditioned tablets under $50.00 on Ebay
and I hit purchase. That was sunday night. It arrived this morning.
set up took all of 2 minutes and Ive been playing with it,
I hate it so far. Its an eye hand coordination problem. Im so accustomed to lifting the mouse
and moving the pointer from one screen to another. which isn't how this thing works. while typing right now Im looking for the mouse to correct typing errors.but you dont need it, but my mind is looking for that mouse. Almost 30 years of using a mouse is hard to break.

Ive read what others have said here and on line. Ive unplugged the mouse and for the next week
i'll struggle thru using the tablet and see what happens. Wish me luck and any hints are appreciated.

Just stay with it. You're doing the right thing by unplugging your mouse. Although I do not have one of these tablets, I can relate. I can not use a mouse. I've always used a trackball. What makes it really weird is I'm right handed but use my left hand for this. I'm a total spaz if I try to use my right hand on either a mouse or trackball. Bottom liine, with use, it will become easier and easier for you. Hang in there.

I just bought one a week or so ago after seeing a tutorial. So far I love it. I had used one at work and was already used to using it before trying it out with photo editing. Now all I need to do is learn Photoshop! Hang in there. You'll wonder how you ever managed with a mouse.

Hang in there, by the time you're used to it, your hate will turn to love, I wish you good luck with your new toy (sometimes down the road I will get myself one as well)!

The Cintiq was created to solve that problem. It's like using the Wacom stylus on a monitor face. It's pricey, though.

I have often mentioned that success with a stylus on tablet requires some proficiency with sketching in the first instance. The fundamental key to image editing, by mouse or by stylus, is the ability to make accurate selections and this requires some natural talent. If you can sketch an object free hand, like charcoal on paper, then you are in. But if you are like me, challenged by stick people, you are 'kinda out.'

My problem too - I bought mine quite awhile back - BUT have just never put in the time with it. It remains connected and waiting for me! I do want to really give it a fair shake though, so will work on it ;)

Be interested to follow how you make out.

Well, I am challenged by even stick figures but got used to the tablet in 30 minutes. I think there is no correlation.

I bought a Cyntiq, if you can ever afford one of these it really is the way to go.

I've been using a Wacom for donkeys's years but that doesn't mean the mouse is redundant, some things are better done with the mouse and some better done with the tablet. I have both plugged in and use the most appropriate.

I use an iPad and an Amazon Fire, and they're both fine. You can use a wireless keyboard, if that would make you more comfortable.

You are correct in unplugging your mouse. Use the Wacom and the pen for all your normal activity. It will become second nature.

I'm had the Wacom medium for several months now. It is natural, comfortable to the point where the mouse is much slower and gets used little. Takes a day or two to get the hang of the features and custom settings but is well worth the effort.

I have used a Wacom tablet for years now and after a relatively short learning curve I have been very pleased with it. Give it a chance.
