A few weeks ago we got significant snow, cold (as low as -40) and wind here in Wyoming. I decided to work a little on my shooting technique and so shot some birds out on my patio. Not only did I learn more but also learned what I do not yet know. Mostly I shot with a Nikon 70-300 f4.5 - 5.6 and Nikon D7100. I shot lots of photos but you don't get to see all my mistakes, just some that I kept.

Shootist, your series is very pleasing. All the photos are tack sharp and the comp is also great. For me it is a toss up between number 1 and 2 as to the one I like the best so I will just leave it a tie.

Thanks Licaflex, I agree with you. I think no 2 captures the character of these small gregarious birds.

Thanks Bear. Yes this is right under the feeder. These little critters love to pick through the seed and throw the rest over the side giving me the opportunity to get shots without the feeder in the way.
