I got this early yesterday morning. What do you think?
I like the simplicity of the shot. No clutter. That's a good thing. The tree at the right side sort of niggles at me. It frames the picture nicely, but I wish it were more it focus, I think. I'm not sure. It's just a solid dark blob as is, and probably you couldn't have included both it and the boat in focus! Better the boat, I guess.
Regardless of quality this not for this section.
Please read the photo analysis section requirement.
I like the simplicity of this shot. I agree that the tree on the left is a little distracting. Maybe a crop that took the tree out would work but I'm only guessing. It is a very nice shot regardless!
Very nice image. However, I do agree that the tree on the right detracts from the atmosphere of the scene.
Thanks all for all of your input. I agree, now that I have some separation from the event, about the tree on the right. It seems to me that I can do one of two things to improve the image. One: crop the tree completely out of the image. By doing so, the branches on the left will still help to frame the fisherman and pull him more in line with the rule of thirds. I wonder if that might unbalance the image though. Or two, work on bringing out some detail in the bark of the tree.
Any suggestions?
I would try to bring out some detail in the tree. You're right about the balance if it goes away.
I'd lose the tree on the right and crop off some of the dead space at the bottom to move the boat closer to a thirds division. I think there's potential here.
It's a beautiful shot, Chefneil, and I'm glad you put it in this section!

A great image!!!
I have mixed feelings about the tree on the right, as far as the "focus" I believe what appears to be soft focus is caused by the diffusion is from the fog.
So I cleaned it upon a little. Whadduya think? I can try to bring out that tree a little, but it will still take ones eye away from the subject.
If any one is interested to have a go---please do!
