They were great Jerry. Thanks for the link.
Thanks Jerry. Great pictures. Next time I'm in Provincetown I'll look to see if I can locate any of the street scenes. I don't think the main st has changed much over the years. If I find a 'then and now' I'll post it here.

I bet most of the buildings are the same, but with more colorful paint, which doesn't show up in B&W, anyway. It is a rather colorful area.

Thanks much. P-Town has a long and fascinating history.

What struk me, is that people (in the 37-40 photos) seemed to engage with each
other much much more than people do now... or are Australians a lot more insular
than people in P'town???
Well one thing is social media. I was noticing one day a young fell who looked like he didn't have two cents to rub together was on a smart phone just taking away. I thought to myself I wonder what or who he is talking to that's so important to him. He was really involved in the conversation, even I don't get in to those modes. Did people back then have the same problems (money and jobs) but did not have the means to communicate only to the one next to him or her.
Does it make sense of what I am saying Jerry.....

Well one thing is social media. I was noticing on... (
show quote)
Social media - or at least smart phones have destroyed the art of conversation. I take the subway to work every morning and everybody - everybody - is on their phones or tablet. I was out for diner the other evening with my wife. There was a large family get-together at the next table. Mom, Dad and about ten adult children, spouses, partners. Mom and Dad sat in silence while the rest of the table spent the whole diner with their thumbs flailing on their phones. They hardly even looked up when it came time to give Dad his birthday present. It was so sad. I would have walked out and disinherited the whole lot of them.
sad but it the new wave......
