I would like to hear from those of you, who like me, love this lens. After 2 days shooting with it I found to be true what most reviewers are saying about it. This is an incredible sharp, fast focusing well balanced lens in all respects. It has raised the imaging from my D810 to new heights.
I was one of those who thought that the price was too much. Now believe that I should have traded most of the lenses that I seldom use for this one.

Incredible lens, but mine's for sale as am changing to Sony gear and don't want to use an adapter.

Your lens is the "G" VR II version. I am talking about the "E" version of the same lens.

I purchased the G VR II version several months ago. is the upgrade worth it at this point?
Thanks.

Having never used/tested the 'E' version, I don't have an answer for you except to say the VRII version is as sharp as both my 14-24 and 24-70 were and that's saying something.

It is no doubt that the G version is an awesome lens. That said, I used it to take many incredible shots but my 70-200 f4 could do a better job except for low light shots.
However, this lens sharpness and prompt focusing capabilities are outstanding.
I should mention that one has to get used for the zooming ring position.

Could do a better job, how. Is it sharper than the VR II model? I am shooting a D5 so lens speed is not as critical as on some cameras.

It is incredible--keep/get it and never look back. You will be happy for sure.

Have you used the G version before you bought the E? All the reviews are clear that new E FL version is much better; but $2700 is a hefty price to pay for the difference.

I would like to see a comparison shot from each lens. I have had the VR11 for years and am on my second one. It is my work horse. It is as sharp as my non VR 24-70. I think it would be interesting to see images from both lenses to see just what this improvement in the new lens is all about.
Thanks!

I can only speak of my 20-200/2.8II Canon version of this lens, but I do agree and it is my most used lens (my walk around)!

I opted for the 70-200 F4 almost purely for the weight difference. I have a D5300 and the F2.8 seemed overkill for my system. Someday, when I move up to a full frame, I will probably look at the F2.8 again. I'm glad your happy with your lens.
