Super images Regis with your usual degree of incredible sharpness. The robin must be doing a bit of a balancing act, as it seems to me it would be difficult for the claws to get a tight grip on that thin wire.

Your photography is always top notch and always tack sharp. I am amazed how close you can get even to your eagles etc. I shoot wild life also. If I get within a 100 feet I had better be shooting 'cause what ever is there is going to be gone in a second.

Fantastic shots,Reg, excellent detail. Is he sitting on an icicle or are his little claws encapsulated in ice? I love the attitude of #1, so perturbed and disgruntled. Totally enjoyable images!

There is some ice on the Robin's claws. He perched on our fence for about 15 seconds. We are having a snow meltdown with the temperatures
around 40 degrees, but there is still a lot of snow on the ground and it looks like this Robin probably was probing in the ice and snow for food.
Some of our Robins stay here for the Winter. I have put out some corn and bird seed because I know the birds are hungry.

Thank you for your great comment, Carly Sue. I hope you are having a mild Ohio Winter.

I am lucky to get within 100 feet of a Bald Eagle. My camera/lens/convertor combo gives me amazing detail.
I use a Barska type pistol hand grip to steady my shots (see below). This device screws into the lens base.

Thank you very much, tramsey.

You are right about the balancing act on this wire. The bird flew away after about 15 seconds. It's small claws had some ice on them.

Thank you very much, tbell7D.

Hi Regis - great shots - Your US Robins look different to our UK ones. We have birds called Redstarts (Phoenicurus phoenicurus) which look like your photos, except that their beaks are all black. My bird book says that there is some confusion. Our Robins have brown heads and backs - and their red breasts extend up to include their faces. Just thought I would chat a bit. A fantastic hand held at that shutter speed and that focal length Del.

Very nice, Regis! I love the expression in the first one, and the snow on his feet.

Excellent images, great detail, I am always amazed how they can stay upright on a little wire like that.
