Thanks for this info - bI will cancel/refuse this one and I have ordered this one with the AF chip with hopes it will be the better with some AF at least.
Dang this lens pumps me up. I shot with Panasonic lumix FZ 3 through 17 for many years and loved the local range so this 28 -200 will be of great use for my walk around lens.

Can you cancel that adapter?

This one is better I think. The one your link took me too doesn't have a focus confirmation chip, where this one does and its programable (so will report focal length and aperture in the exif) They are both manual focus but this one will confirm focus with the body.

You indicate several times that this is a 72mn lens. I believe that this is the FILTER size, not the focal length.

Yes the 72 mm is the filter size - 28mm-200mm with 72mm filter size- they were discontinued being replaced by 62mm- I am hoping this will help with more light and clearer images - a suggested setting I found was F11 - 1/160- 400 film speed.
This is an auto/manual lens and I have ordered an adapter that has a "chip" in it to be programed so my Canon T3i will work with it. If not I like to shoot manual as that is how I stated with my SLR.

Tamron Aspherical Adaptall 28-200 F3.8-F5.6 72mm filter AF/M macro (which is just a marking from what I have read.) The fellow who owned this was my mentor and had this lens for a short while - he had dropped it and had it in for repairs when he suddenly passed away - his family did not pick it up from the Camera store we dealt with so they gave it to me as the repairs were pre paid. I never used it as I put it in storage when we moved to MX for 5 yrs and converted to Digital while there so from 1999 to now it has been tucked away waiting for me to take it out and enjoy it.
