I bought a used D7200 and don't have a disc. My computer will not except a raw file from this camera. It will from my D7000. Trying to repent and learn how to use Raw so I can change my handle.

What program are you using to open the files? Irfanview (free) will open raw files.

Take a look here for ViewNX 2.

You should be able to download an editing program from Nikon directly. http://nikonusa.com

If that isn't satisfactory, there are a couple other free programs that you can use:

Light Zone - http://lightzoneproject.org/node?destination=node
Phocus - http://www.hasselblad.com/software/phocus

You need to upgrade. PSE (<14) edits in an 8 bit environment. You lose color depth from your raw.

What prompted the change of heart?

You see I don't understand 8 bit 14 bit. Don't have much money to spend on PC or elements, LR. Thanks

Trying to see what it's all about. Might not like it. Then again I might.

Yup, to both, Rong..... I tested it with my D700 and D800e. It's a bit similar to LR in some respects.

I am in it now as I type and I cannot open any of my NEF files shot from my D800e. D500 does not work either but that is a newer format so I do not expect the moon.

If I am doing something wrong, let me know. I have been watching videos but beside the casual mention of importing, there is nothing. (Yes, I also have the manual open and read it..)

Importing what? I point to the directory where the files are and the program sees nothing. Tried using a CF card, no success either...

Just about to nix that one!!!

Rong...., I'll take a look at it this evening, but it will more than likely be a bit late (my time).

Edit: Rong..., just took a look and here is something from the Hasselblad web site.

"3rd party file support

All Hasselblad digital camera products are supported by Phocus. In addition to supporting Hasselblad’s own files, Phocus on the Mac platform also supports RAW files from close to 200 other digital camera RAW formats, as well as supporting the most common file formats such as TIFF, JPEG, DNG, and PNG. This added file support results in a single, comprehensive – and free – solution that enables all Hasselblad photographers to streamline their work process and to work with both Hasselblad images and those captured with their 35mm DSLRs in one and the same application".

Apparently, I lucked out in that I'm using a Mac.
