I am interested in Olympus om-d e-m1, but I read some reviews regarding view finder issues complained. And how much image quality should I trade off of Nikon D7200 level DSLR camera? Please share your experiences about Olympus mirror less camera.. Thanks in advance....

I have used the OM-D E-M1. It takes fine pictures, sharp and clean. What I did not like was the EFV as you mentioned as well as the slow AF and shutter lag. I have read that the new OM-D E-M1 MK II has improved the AF and shutter lag problems but I have not used the new camera so I can not attest to that.

I haven't had much problem with viewfinder of shutter lag except in low light, or trying to shoot moving subjects with long lenses. But as Mac said the new version is a big improvement at nearly double the price, in more areas than just those two.

Overall the e-M1 is a superb camera. It is light, small, and extremely sharp and capable. Where you will notice a difference is with your dynamic range, low light capability, and autofocus speed, but overall image quality is astonishing, because in part of the superb Olympus lenses, and the interchangeability with lenses from any micro 4/3 manufacturer.

That said, I am selling mine to help pay for the newer model, which I already ow, So is member cdouthitt (SP?) who already has his listed here on the buy/sell forum. You might want to check it out.

Also, do a search here for the many threads already posted on this subject.

With that budget, you should do well on a good used one and a lens or two. Look for a deal on the 12-80 PRO f/2.8, used or rfurbished, or any of the "Kit" zooms.

I have been using this camera since it first came on the market. In fact I sold off a d700 Nikon along with all high end Nikon lens as it fit my needs just as well and lighten the carrying load

I use this camera and in my experience there is no problem with the viewfinder and the image quality is excellent.
The main problem is learning the menu system when first using the camera.

I currently own a Nikon D500 and an Olympus EM1 mark II. Prior to buying the mark II I had 2 x EM1 bodies + 6 lenses, including an Olympus 300mm f4 PRO + 1.4 TC and a PanaLeica 100 - 400mm f4/6.3. If you care to view my post titled "Wildlife photography - my perfect gear", you will see a number of images taken with my EM1's plus the above lenses, compared to my D500 + Nikkor 300mm f4 PF VR. The Oly 12 - 40mm f2.8 PRO and 40 - 150mm f2.8 PRO and 60mm f2.8 macro are also excellent lenses.

I have the OM-D 1 and it takes sharp photos. No problem focusing and it did have some shutter lag until I found a setting to change and now it doesn't. I hated to give up the Nikon gear, but it was just too heavy.

I actually use a Nikon D-7200 and an Olympus OM-D EM 5 Mark II. The Olympus is good for some things, the Nikon is better for others. What I don't like on the Olympus is the electronic view finder; it is very slow and the live one on the Nikon is better. The picture quality is roughly equivalent. The Nikon is of course much heavier so on occasion I travel with the Olympus. I have had no problem blowing up pictures from either, including to poster (20x30 inch) size.

FWIW, I use my Olympus with a 25 mm f 1.8 prime and a 14-150 mm lens; I use my Nikon with a 18-200 mm and a 50 mm 1.4 lens, so even my lenses, adjusting for crop factor, are approximately similar.

Buying something that is less than what you want because you don't want to spend the extra money is, in itself a waste of your hard earned $s. You will always be less than satisfied and will probably put the camera down and only use it infrequently.
