According to Christopher Frost, "No it is not good."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvMr8boMFgAI have 3 Nikon versions of some Non Canon lenses he has tested and find his reviews to be pretty close to what the lens is.

I had the 50/1.8 from Yungnuo, tried it once and it went into the trash!
Agree, pass on that lens. Softness, distortion, excess focus noise.
I was just curious about this cheap lens, I watched some youtube videos on it and its junk.
Thank's for your input maybe this will keep others from buying this lens.
Looking at the cheap prices here in UK for an f2 lens like this, the possibility of it being equal to more expensive similarly fast glass sounds too good to be true; going by the comments and applying common sense, it probably is.
Haven't tried one but:
This 'normal' lens costs around $90 in the USA. Consider what you want from the lens.
Nikon makes very sharp, well regarded, inexpensive normal lenses for not very much more. These lenses will last you a life time, render excellent photos, and have a strong resale value should you ever change to another format or brand.
The Yongnou lens might have more character (imperfections) or it might not. People who buy normal lenses are not usually looking for imperfections, but some people do consider that 'artistic' and 'character.'
Soooo.... If you are looking for a fast street lens or a short portrait lens on a DX body, I'd recommend the Nikon 35mm DX 1.8 or the 50mm 1.8D over this lens. If you want to play, and are OK with the possibility of character in your lens, and don't care if you can't resell it, go with the Yonguao. Personally, I'd recommend you own one of the Nikkors before buying the Yongnou unless there is a severe budget issue.

I bought one for my Canon. Would not focus. Blurry images. Returned to seller for refund.
The OP knew that he could have answered his own question on this one...

I bought this Chinese made lens for my Canon T1i/500d for $90 and have been pleased with the quality of this lens. One mf'd by Canon would cost over $1,500! It's on my camera now as I write this response. Do some research on this lens before you buy. I am
very satisfied with Yongnuo's 50mm f/1.8 lens also which was half the cost of Canon's version!

Jahawk Nikon's AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm F1.8G is considered by the lion's share of those using crop sensors as possibly one of the finer DX versions of a 35mm... It is a standard 50mm in full frame equivalence... and ideal for full length fashion... But it's simply not a "wide angle" lens... On a crop sensor you'll have to go down to 24mm to obtain a 35mm angle of view.
I have the above mentioned Nikkor and it's lightweight and provides excellent results (See DxO mark's thoughts on this glass)
https://www.dxomark.com/Lenses/Nikon/AF-S-DX-NIKKOR-35-mm-f-1.8G-mounted-on-Nikon-D500__1061Note: You'll want to change the body on DxO Mark from a D500 to a D7100 which offers far more acuity to appreciate what this lens is capable of... The D500 is no match for the D7100/D7200 in acuity
Here is Thom's review
http://www.dslrbodies.com/lenses/nikon-lens-reviews/nikkor-prime-lens-reviews/nikon-35mm-f18g-dx-af-s.htmlPlease keep in mind this AF-S 35mm f/1.8G is not Pro-Grade glass... far from it...
Nikon has made on one DX Pro-Grade Lens in the focal length you are interested in...
The AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED
Those who shoot DX commercially understand the worth/value of this lens... but it is not for hobbyist...
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/camera-lenses/af-s-dx-zoom-nikkor-17-55mm-f%252f2.8g-if-ed.htmlBecause this Pro Lens is IF (Internal Focusing) it does not "pump" dust into it's interior when zoomed... Unlike the Nikon's cheaper zooms which extend during focal length adjustment.
Hope this helps or is at least food for thought
All the best on your journey Jahawk
I own and use this lens that you recommend here. It is a bit soft in the corners until you stop down to about f4, but otherwise it's quite good, even on my D810, which is very unforgiving of an inferior lens. Beyond f4, IQ is neck and neck with my 50mm f1.4 D. It's a bargain. The following lens is considered significantly better by DXO and it may be, but I'm not compelled to spend $600 on it at the moment.
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/35mm-f18-fx.htmBy the way, this isn't a plug for Ken Rockwell. His opinions are all over the place and sometimes just plain idiotic. What he does well is give you a good history and detailed specs on a lens. Beyond that, his opinions are subjective and sometimes questionable.
