Thanks for all the nice comments and advice. I mostly did it just for funzzies. (very busy photo). As I remember, shooting from the other side was into the sun.
This is a great site...
Thanks for all the nice comments and info. I would normally consider the photo too busy and put it on the back burner. Just did it for funzzies and practice.

Using Photoshop (I use CS5), assume most to all PS have this feature
Examile photo was a quick and somewhat out of focus of a cabinet in my home. On photo two notice on left I removed the knob but left the shadow of that knob. Removed all on right side.
Click the lasso tool, lasso loosely (include a touch of the surround) around the subject to be removed. Click EDIT, FILL. OK the pop-up window. WaLaa, the subject is gone. Fast and so so easy.
What software are you guys using? I have Photoshop Elements. It gets the job done.
I prefer the cleaned-up version. Simple techniques exist in Photoshop for avoiding or erasing the artifacts after cloning.

This photo was a mess of wires. But just for fun and practice thought I would see if I could clean it up. P.T. Barnum dressed for the holidays.
You can still lightly see some of the wires. Underground utilities would be nice.

You have much more patience than I. Delete would have been my choice.
Good work! Your healing brush can also remove the after lines in the sky.
I don't know whether or not you have PS CC, but I believe that this would have been easy with the spot healing brush and content aware.
I agree..but being a newbie...thought it would be fun to practice and clean it up. I think from the other direction the sun was shining in my face. The statue is a beautiful piece of work/art esp. zoomed in...

You left a lot of cleaning-up behind!
I use Lightroom to remove power lines. Works well sometimes and not so good other times. The power lines are a pain in many photos.
