Apple has always charged three times the price for half the power and capability. It used to be "easier to learn" and "malware need not apply" but these things have drastically changed. More writers of malware are targeting Macs (They benefited in the past from such a small market presence. 3%, but now 8-10%.) And Windows 10 has become super easy to learn and more stable than Mac OS, while retaining the open architecture that Apple has avoided.
I just bought a great Dell 13 inch to put in my camera case. With metal--not plastic--case, SSD, I7, 8gb, 3 usb 3.0, etc. for $700. Loaded with Affinity and PS, I'm ready for my trip to Mexico.
