That is a beautiful bonsai tree! I have always wanted to do that but I've never had the patience or skill and I am envious of you for having both. Photography is fun and can be a very personal thing just like your trees. Take your time and try different methods, backgrounds and views until you get what you want. You know when it all comes together for you and the only person you have to please is yourself.
Thank You very much. I tell people I coach about bonsai the same thing; you only have to please yourself.
The problem is finding really deep shadows without carrying the tree off site, it only weighs shy of 90 pounds, but of course you are correct.
It depends on where you live, bonsai like the ones I grow have to be grown outdoors with a winter dormancy. Many people are not willing to do that. There are trees that can be grown indoors but I do not care as much for them. Bonsai take time and an attention to detail. They are a lot like pets they do not take care of themselves for long.
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
