I have done updates before.
I have a Mac, and what I see that may be different is that my version to load onto the formatted SD card has a .cpgz at the end, in other words it is listed as NKLD0215.BIN.cpgz
Does that change anything and is your download say the same version?

My (L) version in the camera is 2.009
I dragged the NKLD0215.BIN.cpgz as a separate item and not in the DCIM folder, I even tried removing the DCIM folder
I formatted the SD Card originally and even did it again a second time.
I inserted the SD Card in Slot #1

I always look to myself as the problem, so any help that you can provide is appreciated
Thanks,
Greg

The camera needs a .BIN (binary) file extension on the firmware file per step 4.2 in the link below. The link below contains a step by step procedure for updating Nikon firmware using a Mac:

Does anyone know if the in-camera distortion correction works on RAW files?

(I suspect not.)

Actually MtnMan I would think it does work on raw files. But I'm not 100% sure. There is one way to find out. Shoot JPEG+raw and compare both side by side. Report the results here. ;)

Ok!

It seems I had to transfer the folder to the SD card and then open the folder in the SD Card and the Zip appeared without the .cpgz, I kept that one and trashed the one with the extension .cpgz.

Hopefully I explained it enough and it can be useful for someone else.

Thanks of everyone's help.

Greg

I think it might but why don't you ask the Nikon support folks this question, they are pretty good about responding. chase

I'll give that a try with one of my wide angle lenses.

I was thinking I could just check it on the LCD...but maybe not. It might apply the correction to the jpeg displayed and not to the saved RAW file.
