That's a great hand-held shot with that lens. Kudos.

Thanks, CandidCanon! Yes, it is a crop of #1. Happy New Year!

Thanks for the answer! We've been talking about how much crop you can resonably expect to get and still have a good crisp photo this about answers that! Next I believe it comes down to your technique and or lens. Thanks for the info about the pistol grip in one of the other replies. I believe that I need more practice with my Tamron 150-600... You can't just pick up a camera and lens and expect to get shots like these with out lots of practice... Thanks Again! Great Shots!

We were coming home from the store and noticed this guy in a tree near our front yard. It is a dreary day, but I ran in and got the camera and got a couple of shots before he flew away.

Nikon D810 with Nikkor 200-500 hand held

Very nice shots. Very sharp for hand held. I especially like the close up of the head. He looks like an old guy.

Have only seen one in my 70yrs.

Thanks for viewing, quagmire. I guess it depends on where you are, there are a number in our area. When we were at the refuge two weeks ago we counted 10 juvenile bald eagles all in one area at one time. It's always a thrill to see such a magnificent bird.

You're welcome, CandidCanon! Happy shooting! The Tamron is an excellent lens, my husband has one.

Thanks, stumbo! I appreciate your kind remarks. I don't know how old he is, but he's probably over 7 years. They get their white head at age 5, and if he's one from the local eagle cam at Harrison Bay, he's been around for a while.

Lucky you. Eagles in the yard. The best I can do is Red Tail Hawks and Screech Owls.

Great shots.

Thanks, tmehrkam! I've never had an owl in the yard, but hawks, yes, red tailed, red shouldered and Cooper's. The eagle is certainly a treat.
