Tough Day For UPS

I was supposed to get some packages delivered yesterday (No, nothing photographic), but with over seven inches of snow, UPS got slowed down to the point that he never got here. I got messages from both Amazon and UPS telling me that he might be delayed. Then I got messages that he was delayed - till today. It was dicey driving my little Honda Fit, but starting and stopping a big UPS truck on slippery roads must be a real challenge.

I think bigger makes it easier, Jerry. A Sherman tank would scarcely notice the snow.

They left at least three packages out at the box, they usually deliver on my porch. My road was plowed, I think he may have been a new guy, unsure of what to do. I hope he was able to fit them in the box and didn't leave them next to it or they're gone.

The trials and tribulations of winter in the East... 😕

Big rigs you drive like you don't have brakes and steer as little as possible. Like riding a bicycle.

I also have a Honda Fit, has new tires, but they're not snow tires. Just curious if snow tires will make that much difference, (never driven it in much snow, but we live in Rochester and might get some this winter...)

Best advice I've gotten about drinking in the snow: Don't!
If you must, drive slower than you think you should and leave plenty of room between cars. Beware of people driving large SUVs. Many of them think those cars are immune to snow/ice conditions. Wrong!

You "might get some snow", in Rochester? Might? In which Rochester do you reside, New York or Minnesota? Even Rochester Texas gets snow.

New York. I say "might" because last year, we only had one snow of more than 3 inches. This year, my wife, who drives the Fit, may have to drive across town for her job, and I was wondering if the snow tires would be more helpful if there's a big snow while she's out there...

Our post office has two drivers covering our town. UPS covers part of Kingston and other towns, a very large area. I like following my UPS delivery on a map when it's available.

Yes, snow tires definitely help. I put mine on yesterday.

OK, thanks, I'll start pricing them. Just out of curiosity, what works good for you?

Michelin X-Ice have always been top rated, and we've used them for a few years. My son has them on his car, but I thought I'd try Bridgestone Blizzaks, also highly rated.

I recently switched from Tirerack to Discount Tire Direct - a lot cheaper.
