Hello all,
After reading a few tripod reviews on here and doing an extensive google search and review I have narrowed my search down to 3 tripods. The problem with reviews is that there are always people whom have had problems. It matters not if the tripod is one hundred dollars or one thousand dollars if you search any tripod on Amazon you will find the reviews are that 1 or 2% always have trouble. I would like feedback from Hogs on the following; Manfrotto 294, David and Sanford TR654C and Sirui T-025X. It will be used with a DSLR for portraits and a little landscape work. No hiking, no wind, simple stuff. If there is a tripod in this price range I have overlooked please let me know. Also please do not respond with "do not buy a 200 dollar tripod, save your money and buy a 400 dollar tripod." I could do that, but I do not want to look at a 400 dollar tripod collecting dust most of the time. Thank you.
How tall are you? You want a Tripod that has sufficient height to bring your viewfinder up to almost eye level without stooping without having to use the center column. IMHO, the Sirui is too short at 58". The D&S is carbon fiber, and folds into itself, which makes it easier to carry. Height is good also. The Manfrotto looks flimsy. I'd get the D&S.

Well thank you for the effort, seriously, however, I want to spend 200 for a tripod with ahead. The 47axl is headless and the other suggestion is $450.00!

My license says I am 6 foot but I haven't been measured since the military and that was 46 years ago, lol. Thanks for the help.

May be worth while to explore the Oben line of Tripods at B&H. There are several quality tripod & head combos that are $200 or less that may fit your needs quite well.
Good Luck..!!

I looked at these and they look pretty good, thank you.
I am only familiar among the tripods you mentioned with Manfrotto and the 294 could be exactly what you need. Good price at B&H for $119. I recommend a good ball head to go with it.
Reviews are reviews and it all depends on the person doing them. Try something first before you buy (if it is possible) because after all you will be the one using the product.
Tripods are not accessories but a necessity. The cheapest of tripods can do a good job if sound tripod techniques are followed during shooting. I use often a cheap $40 Dolica tripod just because it is light for my travelings and even when I have used it with dSLR cameras and heavy lenses I have never had an issue with it.

so in the $200 I bought a Mephoto Tripod. Its available online and in a lot of camera shops. Ive had NO problem with it and have had it for 2 years.
Its starting to look banged up a bit cause it spends a lot of time out doors in the woods.
It holds my d810 and my 600mm lens no problem. will hold to 17 lbs according to manuf. just my 2 cents
Since we are on tripods here, Can anyone recommend a lightweight tripod for use in hiking - something I can carry in my daypack but is sturdy. Aim all ears.

At the risk of sounding rude, you already know what you want and you know what you want to spend - so just follow your instincts and buy it.
