I want to purchase some spare batteries for my Canon cameras.
I've read some positive comments here about Wasabi batteries.
My question is to those that use Wasabi batteries. Do you purchase
them because you've had bad luck with other 3rd party brands or
do you purchase them because they're sold at B&H and you trust
B&H to handle quality products?

I buy them from Amazon because of a review I read a few years ago. We have them in 3 different versions for 4 different Canon camera bodies

It seems like the Canon versions may use different cells from the Olympus versions. They may actually be good, compared to the junk Olympus batteries they sent me.

bought them for my Oly E-5 and Oly OMD-1 and find they work as well as the brand name ones and not only is the price lower you also get a nice plug in the wall charger from Amazon.

There are only a few large battery cell makers, they make them for many brands. Wasabi sometimes says that their cells are top quality Japanese made cells. Others have said they get them from the same company(ies) that make the cells for the OEM batteries.

Sort of like at one time over 90% of all aspirin sold were made in the Bayer plant but packaged for Walmart, Savon etc.

I have been entirely satisfied with the Wasabi batteries I purchased for a Nikon DSLR and an Olympus mirrorless.
The Nikon has been sold, but I still have the Olympus and still use the battery.

We use the Wasabi batteries for all of our cameras. They are cheaper than the manufacturer brand and we have never had a problem with them in any of the cameras (Nikons, Sonys, and a Canon). We have been purchasing them online from BlueNook for years.

I purchased two for my Nikon due to the good reviews and of coarse the price. What more could you want? They work well and have higher mA's then the Nikon's.

Until a short time ago I was a big Wasabi fan. Got two, and rotated them with the camera's brand. The camera brand is still going, the two Wasabis grew fat in the middle, dead. Cost wise they may prove to be a good choice, but only more time will tell.

The ones I purchased loose the charge very quickly even when there not in my camera. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Sounds like you just got two from a bad batch. That can happen with any product brand. If you had been happy with them up to that point I would think you would stay with them. Let them know about your experience. They may send you a couple of replacements.

I've bought lots of third party batteries, including Wasabi - no problems ever. The only time I ever bought factory brand battery was when I was caught short in Jackson Hole, WY. I bought a tiny Sony battery in a camera store for $70!
