went through some nasty weather recently. One of the resulting indoor shots.
Interesting and very appealing.
Love the composition, color, and especially the background. Would you talk about how you achieved this, what is in pp and what you started with, maybe even post the original shot? I'm also curious about how the drop would look further down the petal, the tension of "when is it going to fall off?"
A very cool photo; would love to chat more about this! Thanks so much for posting.

Thanks Linda.
I'd be happy to talk about this shot, but I'm not sure what you mean when you say: "how you achieved this". What is the "this" you are referring to?
Yah...I'd like to see how the drop would look farther down on the petal too! hahahaha I stopped while I was ahead with the drop. I'm going to continue experimenting with this type of shot, as this isn't the end point for where I'd like to be. I can post a jpg of the raw file if you'd like. This is a small crop of the original, with some color, clarity, sharpening applied.

Very lovely shot ptcanon3ti.....for me a much tighter crop with the droplet on the upper right thirds intersection seems a stronger presentation, but to each there own. Welcome to the section.

Thank you. Yah...I tried many different crops, but I decided that in order to get a really tight crop that you are talking about it would deteriorate the image too much.

Welcome to FYC! We hope you'll hang around, offer your ideas, share more photos, and talk (we like to talk).
This is such an interesting image. The flower is lovely, and I like the angle, the spare focus, the crop and the rich colors. I like the crazy little waterdrop with its puzzling but very sharp and intriguing contents.
I am trying to cultivate a taste for the bokeh balls, but I'm not quite there yet.
I am hoping you'll tell us more about what you did here, it looks like a pretty cool image to try and deconstruct. I think a lot happened here , and I'm curious.

Thanks Frank. I appreciate your thoughts. I'm not defensive and I don't take things like this personally. Thank you again.

Good to know as I can often be a bit blunt with no mal intent.

Hi Minnie.
hahaha...that water drop drove me so crazy! I looked at the contents of that drop and I honestly don't know whats in there. I like it though. I always ponder about backgrounds so I invented this BG for the image.
If you have specific questions ask away. I'm not one of these photographers who keeps trade secrets.

I wanta know that the heck that is in the water drop, but you've told us you don't know either
And I was curious about the background, if you snagged the bokeh balls with lens work while shooting this picture, or did it yourself and brought it in in Post, or if it's a background you added for its effect. I'm kinda interested in backgrounds, textures and extra added elements right now, trying to learn how to adequately chose and blend properly, so that drives my curiosity about those round thingys.

Thanks but you didn't have to do that for me......I'm one that usually downloads and looks around before comment Paul.....that way I only put my foot in my mouth about 90% of the time instead of %100....

Oh... lol the BG:
I'm always trying to figure out a pleasing BG when it comes to shots like these soooo.....
I hung a piece of white parchment paper on the wall behind my shooting station. Then I had the idea of the "bokeh balls" so I then hung a "Christmas light net" on the wall over top of the parchment paper. I also took 2 other speed lights with a different colored gell on each and shot them at the light net/parchment paper BG. So the bokeh balls are a natural artifact of the depth of field with the lens and proximity to the flower.
I hope this makes sense. hahaha
