Holiday time - A Seasonal Reminder

With the holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with my family & friends about drinking and driving. As you may know, some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" out with friends.

Well, three days ago I was out for an evening with friends and had several cocktails, followed by some rather nice red wine. Feeling jolly, I still had the sense to know that I may be over the limit. That's when I did something that I've never done before…….I took a cab home!

Sure enough, on the way home, there was a police road block, but since it was a cab, they waved it past. I arrived home safely and without incident. This was a real relief and surprise because I had never driven a cab before. I don't even know where I got it and, now that it's in my garage, I don't know what to do with it!!!

Happy Holidays
Mark

Colorado's new DUI/DUAI laws are really being felt. http://dui.drivinglaws.org/colorado.php#

Thanks for posting, Mark.

I don't believe in drinking and driving, the potential to spill your drink while driving is way to high and that would be a waste of a good drink.

But seriously, I have a son in law who got caught driving while intoxicated and he lost his drivers license for 6 months. Dumb Ass then did it again, drove to his favorite watering hole and had a few too many and on the way home, you guessed it, another DUI, this time while his license is suspended. He's now facing many months in county prison. I have to wonder, are his wife and children important to him at all?! They will have a nice Christmas but their new year is going to suck...

I've seen this posted a few times. A car was stopped by the police, and when the cop approached the "driver," it was obvious that he was intoxicated. The officer was embarrassed when he saw that the car had right-hand drive.

Exactly, Colorado has come down hard on DUI's. Still liking my Budweiser, I will not even think about getting behind the wheel even if I've only had one. I couldn't live with myself if I hurt someone while impaired.

Wow, how ironic. Just a couple days ago somebody else on this site had the same thing happen to him. After imbibing he took a cab home and the police roadblock waved him through, also.

But then he wanted to know what color to paint his car to look like a Cab.

Son-in-law just got served for a DUI. Lost his license for 60 days, has to start classes for 6 months, had to have a breath monitor installed for 1 year, AND lost his CDL for a year (he was NOT operating heavy equipment at the time, just driving his personal vehicle). Somewhere this issue of drinking and driving has to be reinforced - the son-in-law lost a $27/hr job; just got a new job paying only $12/hr. Paying a heavy, heavy price.
