Its about time they crack down on citizens walking around like they own the place, snapping off pictures as they please.

Very well publicized. The non-credentialed photographer crossed a police tape line illegally, then he ignored orders to leave the area. When he refused to leave that put police officers lives in danger as they had to approach inside the "safe zone" in order to remove the non-compliant idiot. The camera, a Canon 7D, was taken away from the photographer along with the rest of his posessions when he was arrested, that 7D makes a really good weapon when swung hard from its strap! These officers were WELL within their rights as they were protecting the public, in this case the idiot, from potential harm until the bomb squad could evaluate the threat and take appropriate action to alleviate it. This is clearly a non-issue except tp verify that ANY idiot can but a camera!

in situations like this you have to follow Police orders or you will be arrested. I've been in that situation a lot of times and immediately complied each time. You can't file your story if you're in jail.

Read the story to the end; he didn't cross a police line.

Reread the details- there was NO Tape Line where he crossed! He obeyed the police as soon as he realized they were calling to him. You've managed to twist the entire story around to defend bad police behavior. If the Police were wearing body cams, TURNED ON, we'd have a much clearer history of what prevailed. This PD doesn't want that.
The district manager, I guess that is what they are calling their supervisors looks to be way to young to have that responsibility, she should have called in her LT to assist with the handling of the public. To me this whole thing was handled inappropiatley, when the police department got the call up supicious objects the first cruiser should have radioed for back up and the bomb squad and blocked off all access to the area from pedestrian and vechicle traffic and issued a shelter in place order until the situation could be resolved.
From the photograph of the district manager/supervisor it is difficult to tell how long she had been on the force, but from the comments in the article this is not her first time with confronting the public and it has never been good. She has not learned from her previous experiences how to handle different situations.
I wonder how they do their promotions, is it strictly done on test scores or test scores and practical applications. Any one can be great at taking test but that does not mean that they have the common sense to judge a situation and deal with it in a reasonable manner. I have seen many times where some one was promoted because they had time in grade or they had a rabbi help get them promoted that should have not been promoted. As someone mention previously their promotions goes to their head and they get on a power trip and this is when the citizens or their subordinates need to take them down a couple of notches. Her supervisors should also be held accountable for her behavior and indiscrimate decision making. This is my humble opinion as a monday morning quaterback given the information in the article.

Why don't people obey the police any longer. I was taught to obey them, not argue with them.
Sometimes when you don't argue with them they still like to show how powerful they are.
Off topic, I need help controlling web pages that want to play 3 or 4 videos at the same time. Such is the case here. Any ideas?
Thanks and Merry Christmas,
Tom
I was also taught to stand up for my (our) constitutional rights.

Personally I have no respect for legacy media. They think they walk on water.
Arrest them and beat them regularly until they actually quit putting out false news.
