He's not president yet. When the time comes that he officially is, he'll be my president just like the current president is to a lot of people here. In other words, not now, not ever!

There isn't really anything I like about Obama, but he is my president, like it or not. If I was put in a position to have to physically defend or protect him I would.

Jerry< I agree with you. Early in my sales career I was told by my boss "Selling is like shaving, if you don't do it every day, you're a bum!" ....... Coot

I'm with you on this Jerry. I grew up at a time when people like Robert Redford, James Garner, Tom Selleck, etc. were the "hunks", and they took the time to shave. Of course, they also didn't wear dreadlocks or wear their pants so low that they had to waddle to keep them from falling to the ground. I may be old as dirt but I don't think today's looks would have appealed to me at any time.

Somehow, we got convinced that men don't have to shave before going out somewhere special. There are special electric razors that let men shave, but leave enough stubble behind to look the way they do. Does anyone else think this is ridiculous?

I see nothing wrong with a nice bear, especially one this length.

This is better than pants half way down their rear so everybody can see their underwear.

Actually, I wouldn't mind being that age, looking something like that, and knowing what I know now some 60 years older. I would probably hate myself.

You might look very nice with a beard. Age has nothing to do with it. My husband is 76 and I like his beard.

Agreed.

Although having 5 o'clock shadow doesn't meet the standards that many of us old farts grew up with, there are many, many more important standards that have been discarded by young people.

Absolutely ridiculous, yes. When will it end? And the "man bun" thing, what is that all about?

I would surround him with a wall of stinky gas. I've had to put up with his sh*t for 8 years, i would certainly give him back some of mine. No law against having gas!

It's amazing how many think that their values are other's business. Ever heard of to each his own. A beard is not hurting anyone, neither is a mustache or baldness for that matter. Especially when it doesn't represent something or a group that is hurtful to others. When it does represent harm to others, then it becomes other's business. Unbelievable how after all these years of so called development of societies and we think we are so advanced in ours, how the most simple of discriminating ideas are so active and influential still all around us. And this group demonstrates it so well. Shameful!

Good point about baldness. I am pretty much bald and there isn't anything I am going to do about it. So, if some don't like my fad, I'm screwed

You’re showing your age, Jerry. I’m quite confident that sometime or another in your younger years you wore a haircut or style of clothing that elders at the time also thought were ridiculous. Most importantly however, is the fact most women find that look virile and sexy. If it didn’t attract women, men wouldn’t do it.

I'm about to be 80 next month. Have "one of those close beards", have had a beard for 50 years of various lengths. What's the big deal??
