NIK software

Today I downloaded NIK software from Google. The download went without a hitch. During installation it asked which program I wanted it to attach to. I said "Photoshop 6". Program says it is done but I can't find the NIK add-ons in Photoshop. What did I do wrong. As usual I seek the knowledge of this group.

In my case, when I want to use any of the NIK programs, I have to right click on a picture and one of the choices is to "edit" in NIK. I wouldn't know how to just pull it up since it is a plug in. Maybe someone else can help you to fix it

The NIK plug-ins will be in the filters in PS6.

You should find the NIK software in Photoshop>filters at the top of the screen.

With humble apologies to all who responded I must have had one too many whisky's when I wrote my inquiry. I did not tell the program to load into Photoshop but to load into Lightroom 6. The same question still is where is the NIK software in Lightroom. Again my apology for my screw-up.

Again, and I may be wrong, but on my computer a 5k iMac - since it isn't a stand alone program, I can't just go to NIK. Unless. I right click on an image in Lr and tell it to edit in any of the NIK programs.

In the pursuit of knowledge I right clicked on an image in finder and selected open in silverFx tried a few settings and now pats cat isn't the only thing black & white. Being a plugin SilverFx only has the controls it needs as the calling program can do the rest (open a file pass a copy to the plugin add the returned copy as a layer or a standalone jpeg depending on the host program) There is a save button and it overwrites the file that was opened. So to use standalone you need to make a copy first or lose the original version. I sacrificed the color version :)
with hdr there is a save and open menu as you need to open several images and combine them in to one file. But there is no print menu item for example just the bare minimum.

NIK is a plugin to LR and PS. But, you can use it with any program if you export a TIFF or JPEG out of the program and drop the file on the NIK application icon.

Hopefully you meant Photoshop CS6, Photoshop 6 is ancient history! Now Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 makes perfect sense.

It is lightroom 6. I use that and Elements 14/15 for post processing. Someone asked what operating software do I use. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

Straight from Google:

1. Start Lightroom.
2. Select File > Plug-in Manager.
3. Click the Add button.
4. Browse to the folder where you saved the plugin and select it. Then click Add Plug-in.
5. The plugin should show that it's Installed and Running. Click "Done," and you're set.

Here is where you will the folder:

C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection

In Photoshop you can also find Nik in Menu>File>Automate.
