i want to use a Nikon MC-22A remote cord (3 wire to 10 pin) on my D810.
I've been unable to find a user or application manual on the nikon site.
Does anyone have a file copy, user experience or suggestions?
A wiring diagram or schematic of it connected to a trigger device?

You spent 2k plus on the camera, why cheap out on a release cable?

At nearly $50.00, this specialized cable release is far from cheap, besides, he needs a cable release for something, I use one all the time for timed exposures.

I did this yrs ago with a Pentax Sf1 , the strands of wire were re-enforced with nylon like strands , they were a bitch to connect and ended up breaking a few months later, I don't know if the newer cables are still made the same way, if they are $59 is not a bad price.
And $59 is cheap compared to the camera price, also I believe three wires are needed one to turn the view finder on and one for the shutter release the third would be the common.
I'M betting Nikon won't recommend the alteration.

nikon sells the mc-22 so i'm sure they advocate its use but i have been unable to find
any information on the nikon site on how to use it or any of the trigger devices nikon
has which would use it.
The information must be there, i just can't find it.
Does anyone have a link toa place on the nikon site where i could ask for their help?

User manuals are also available on the Nikon website under Photography - Photo Accessories - Shutter Release Accessories.

Get an ohm meter and try each if the banana plugs to the following:

10-pin connector (MC-20, MC-22, MC-30, MC-36)

nikon 10 pin remote release connector pinout:

Pin
Number Pin
Name Description
----- -----------------------------------------------------
1 Data receive
2 Battery voltage
3 +5V regulated, meter on
4 Shutter release signal Fully depressed release button
8 Shutter Release Pulse to Second Camera
7 Power Ground
6 Signal Ground
5 Data Transmit
9 Activate signal. Half depressed release button

You can buy one of these from Henry's (in Canada), with the instruction sheet for $10...

thats the info i wanted from nikon. thanks rfmaude41
Yhe D810 software seems to require both focus command and shutter command to trigger the shutter.
My stackshot controller only supplies one high/low signal out.
Can i just add a diode too the focus lead and another too the shutter lead; then have the stackshot drag those two
diodes low to trigger the shutter?
Is there enough shutter lag for any lens group to dampen before the shutter fires?
Remember i have to be in manual focus, trigger on release.
This would allow the MC-30 to operate normally but also provide the ability to fire the shutter
with a single contact driver such as the stackshot.
