I almost went with glass instead of the body because someone alerted me to that lens on Fred Miranda that I probably could have gotten for 900. I would have also added the 7-14 and ec20 to go with my old em1

You'll have a chance in the not-to-distant future to pick up a 150, but in the meantime think of all the great shots you'll be taking with the new body! The 150 is a lens that you just don't pull out every day, whereas your kit is already very complete for 90%+ of what anyone would ever need in glass. The new body is the right choice for you, CD.

Just ordered a peak design leash to go with it...I love it on the original EM1, so I figured I didn't want the new one to get jealous of the old one.

OK --- Amazon, B&H, and Adorama all seem to use "E-M1" and "E-M1 mark ii" to distinguish between the two cameras; I'm guessing this is Olympus terminology, and the boxes will be marked that way. {Pentax does that with "K-3" and K-3 ii"}

Canon also does it with the 5D, 5DMII, 5DMIII, 5DMIV, 7D, 7DMII, 1DX and 1DXMII.

Battery charging...glad I brought a couple lenses to work. Dang this thing fits really well in my hands. How long does the battery take to charge?

The literature indicates two hours.
My wife didn't want me playing around with the camera on Christmas Eve and wanted to know that it was in good working condition. So I got to play with it for 15 minutes. I put in a slow chip (it will easily overpower my 40 MB/s chip) and quickly shot 15 frames of her. I don't know what the playback systems are like on other cameras, but the E-M1mrII plays back like a movie even when scrolled manually and scrolls the shots while magnified. I was able to zoom in and frame just her head and scroll at that level as fast as possible checking out my wife changes in expression. This is going to make editing a lot simpler.

The playback is all new on this bad boy.

Although I received it today, I literally had about 30 minutes to play with it...dang work.

Clint, where'd you buy it from? I was torn between the new GH5 and the E-M1ii, but I've always been an Oly man at heart, all the way back to my film days and the OM-2!

Amazon (via Olympus)...I had $450 in gift cards, so it was a no brainer for me to get it from there. If you go the GH5 route you'll have to wait until early spring (at my estimate). It should be nice, but the speed of the olympus and the IS is truly a game changer. I don't shoot enough video so know boo, but I'd say if you shoot 25% or more video wise...wait for the GH5...otherwise run out and the the olympus (if you can find one in stock).

Gotcha. I shoot maybe 10% video, if that. I'm destined for the Mkii.

It'll change your life ;-)

That said...good luck finding one in stock. I could check the camera store across the street from me if you'd like? They're an official Olympus reseller.

I just ordered the Huelight EM1ii profiles for LR...so I'll be testing those out over the holiday break as well.

Thanks, but I will wait for my own local guy to set me up. The E-M1 Marl ii will be my next camera body. I'm already revved up about it!
