Combining Two Vertical Images to Make One Horizontal

I make calendars for a few friends each year and normally use Snapfish. On their site one can place multiple images on each month, so I often use two vertical images side by side to fill the horizontal calendar page. This year I am using Costco for the first time and it appears that you can only have one image on each page. I know how to use photomerge in Photoshop to make panoramas, but in this case I just want to place two images side by side with a small space in between. I thought one of you might know an easy way to do this. Thanks.

Phil

Paint.net, an improved version of windows Paint;
Mac probably has some rudimentary editor which will do the same.
Open an image, copy it, open second image, expand the canvas and paste the copy of your first image in the empty space.

Will they accept a collage? I would think you would be able to create one in Photoshop in the print section and save as 1 pic...

Can't you open a blank in Photoshop and put the two photos in it?

That is what I am hoping to do, but don't know how to do that.

Bsprague posted a tutorial. Here is what I do. Decide on the width you want. Say each of your verticals are 6" high by 4" wide and you want a 1/2 inch space between. Make a blank canvas 8.5" wide by 6" high with whatever color background you want. Copy each of the two photos to the blank and position them. Then take your over all composite and resize it to fit the width of your calendar. (You may have to make it a little taller than 6" to keep the right ratio.)

I do this all the time. But my suggestion is to make the blank canvas (control N) be the size you want the final image (probably the size of the calendar?). Then decide what size the two images should be to fit on the blank. Then it's a matter of drag and drop the images onto the blank. There may be a fancier way, but that's my easy way.

That is probably easier. Actually that is what I do most of the time, but means figuring out the two image sizes. Either works. Thanks for giving him another option.

You can do that in Photoshop also. Create a blank frame double size and insert the two images.

Open up in photoshop elements a blank the size you want. Re size your picture to what you need than Control A to include all of the picture. Control C to copy it. Go to your new blank and Control V to paste it and then Control T to put it where you want it.
