In the market for a new monitor for photography. Looking for something around 23" as I will be buying two for side by side use, the thin frame appears attractive for this use. My price range is $200 - $250. Appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you, Doug

Very helpful. I found this one earlier was not sure if satisfactory for photographery. If so, nice savings, having been looking at around $500 for two. Doug

I'm using a triple monitor setup using 24" Dell Ultra-Sharp. They are 6-bit displays but they have very decent detail. If you purchase the 1920x1080's they will be a little less expensive than the 1920x1200 models. Both can be found around $240 each. They have a VERY thin bezel. I like them personally and have all of them calibrated.

Go to Ebay and have a look a Nec monitors, there's some high quality one... new and used at reasonable prices.

Do your research before buying.

I would not suggest using a display that does not provide at least sRGB gamut for photo editing. All displays I have looked at in this price range cannot display sRGB. They are all 6 bit and use A-FRC to create the illusion of more color accuracy and larger gamut. But if this is all you can justify, then look at the Dell U2412M. It is a 5 yr old design, but is still in production, and is only $212.

I would suggest investing in a single display, then adding a second one down the road if you need to have two. In this case, Dell's UP2516D is an outstanding wide gamut display that is a great display for photo editing.

I purchased a U2413 from the Dell Outlet. They had a sale I think 40% off. I got a monitor that B&H today sells for about $419 for $115.00. It has 100% sRGB & 98% Adobe RBG. I calibrated it with a Spyder Pro 5 but the factory preset was quite close, just a little warm.

You can buy it new for about $269.00. That gets you a 2 year warranty and a No Hot Pixle guarantee. I checked reviews of it against the newer 2414 & 2415. The 2413 had better reviews. I'm blown away by how nice it is.

It might be a sacrilege, but I have been using the HDMI input on a 32" LG television for several years. It might not have the spec's of a monitor but it's easy on the eyes. With many laptops having HDMI outputs, it has become very convenient. This TV is my monitor, and is used for watching Hulu or Netflix when the spirit moves.

Thanks for all of the help. After receiving the recommendations for Dell, I have ordered a Dell U2415 24" Widescreen LEC Backlit IPS Monitor. As suggested, I have ordered one, will wait to see if I really need the second one. This will also allow me to check the first one out before ordering. Thanks for help, I feel much more comfortable. I use a pair of these - with a 10 bit NVidia Quadro K2200. Can't say enough good things about them. However, if you are profiling it with a Spyder, you may be missing out on the best feature of these displays - the hardware calibration you can do with a ColorMunki or an i1 Display Pro.

Gene, I'd like very much to read this ap note on calibrating the Dell, but the link is returning a page not found - would you have a different link? Thanks.
