Well I am on a roll with brown birds, here is one I took a few days ago at the Riverwalk Parkway in Riverside, CA.
The water is pretty high after a few days of strong rains in the last 2 weeks, cleaner and clearer than I remember it from being flushed by all that rain. And the park people turned on the fountain in the main pond for the first time in a very long time.
Ducks, Coots, Gulls, Cormorants a few Stilts and just as I was leaving because the sun was gone and the light failed (forgot to take my flash and better beamer) a couple of Egrets and two Black Crowned Night Herons flew in.

I was on the pier by the observation platform when this Mallard Hen landed only about 4-5 feet away on the railing. She posed nicely for her portrait (yeah, I know, she was hoping I had bread crumbs like the little old lady on the other side).

7DII, 100-400 mk II @ 105, 1/250 @ f/5.6, ISO 400 built in flash because she was back lite by the setting sun - hand held PP in LR and cropped

Beautiful - I think I see a hint of a smile on her face.

One I posted before in Photo Gallery and Digital Artistry, the other two were the other frames from a 3 shot series. Main difference is head position changes a little bit and I processed them in a similar way but not exactly the same.

7DII, 100-400 mkII + 1.4 mkIII @560 mm, 1/250 @ f/8.0, ISO 400 with flash at about 15 feet so heavy cropping on a smallish finch - hand held taken less than an hour before sundown with the yard in heavy shade from trees and fence to the west.

2. The Beauty of Brown Feathers #2 head down and slightly to left
3. The Beauty of Brown Feathers #3 looking a little to right and eye showing

Nicely done, I do like the last one.

Brown is about my most un-favorite color but here is one on my way home that has a lot of brown. This was October 16 maybe the 15th 2015 after the rain was so bad that it nearly ended my time here on this planet. I was on my way home and got stuck on the road I normally take home which was flooded to the point it scared the living S..t out of me! Later that night it closed the freeway Hwy 58, for nearly a week and it trapped over 100 cars in a flash flood. But anyway once I got out of that situation thank god and this is just 10 more miles closer to my place and I saw this scene and had to stop for a photo opp. What a diverse landscape I live in because the clouds that caused all the havoc were black as night but this was quite the beautiful sight I think.
Brown is about my most un-favorite color but here ... (show quote)

I know not many people like the color brown but it can be beautiful when you find a good subject.

Your photo is absolutley gorgeous.

Love all three!

It seems everything turns brown in the late fall of Colorado, so lots to choose from. Here are some favorites.

Yes our Colorado landscape is full of brown right now but will soon be white.

Beautiful photos.

As a nurse I've seen more brown than I care to think - and all shades between. Never was fond of brown. But guessing that doesn't have to stay the case.

See how beautiful the color brown can be and you have some great examples in these photos.
