Flash for Nikon F100 film camera

I am shopping for a flash unit that will integrate with an F100 film camera I own. Those who have or had experience with this more sophisticated film era camera can probably give me some suggestions. It will be use for general purpose indoor use. It could be an older unit that could be found on eBay. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

An SB-24, 25, 26, 27 or 28 will turn the trick.

I know from first hand that the SB-600 and SB 800 will work in all modes except in I-TTL, D-TTL and advance wireless lighting

The SB 24 was a great flash, you could also use an SB-28, but if you are thinking you may go with a Nikon DSLR in the future, get an SB 600 or 800. The older flashes don't do TTL with the digital bodies.

This is a good question. If the SB600 or SB800 will work will I wonder if a Yongnuo like a YN568 or YN685 work as well and save you a little money.

The SB-600 & 800 work beautifully on the F100, N90s and the FE-2. And you can use the SB-600 as a master unit and the SB-800 as a slaved unit with the Nikon CLS setup. But you have to use the SB-600 as the master. Not the SB-800. Also, the SB -24 & 26 work very well too with the F100 body.

I believe you have it backward.
The SB 800 has a master mode, the 600 does not.
The system works great though I've ever used it with film cameras.

Again, I thank you all. I've already put several flash units onto my eBay watch list.

I extend my best holiday wishes to all of you fellow hedge joggers. Stay in focus and maintain good shutter timing.

You are correct when using digital bodies. But it is reversed for film bodies. I was told this by a Nikon tech. And I then tried it. It works as he said it would. SB-600 as master, SB-800 as slaved unit. It worked perfectly on my F100 & N90s bodies.

SB-600 with 3/4 cut CTO gel. Bandalier cliff dwelling. Nikon F100, Portra 400 film.

Interesting... Makes me want to dig the F100 out.
My favorite film camera.

The F100 doesn't support CLS.

I think the yongnuo 685 will only work in manual mode. I have one and tried it on my F100 and F5 and could only get it to work in manual mode.
