I recently purchased the Canon Rebel T6 kit with 18-55mm lens and the Canon Custom Accessory Pack, which included a lens cleaning kit, a UV filter and 2 3V Lithium CR2 batteries.

I have never seen this size battery before. Can anyone tell me what they're used for?

Thanks,
Ken

I know CR2032's are used for Canon's RC-6 Wireless Remote Control.

Not the same. CR2 is a little larger in diameter than a AA, but about half the length and twice the voltage.

I have a LED flashlight that uses that size but I don't know why they came with a camera kit.

Since they came in the kit, either look in the setup manual or call Canon.

is it 12 volts? If so it may be for a wireless transmitter.

Can you be specific about what exactly was in the "Canon Custom Accessory Pack"? It doesn't sound like a normal Canon battery size, but could be for off brand accessories.

It's a 3v battery, shorter and fatter than AA batteries, but doesn't seem to be for the camera itself.

CR2's were quite common in 70's and 80's film camera's (Canon SLR's and some Nikons) as the main power. Common in many P&S film camera's. I have two camera's that use CR2's.... A chinon and a Canon EOS.

My Fujifilm S2, S3 Pro digitals uses a combination of CR2 and AA batteries.

You just have to be an OLD FART, previously film guy to have handled a lot of CR2 batteries. The best part of CR2 batteries. They lasted Frakking forever in the camera. My Fujifilm Sx Pro camera's lasted far longer on the CR2's than the proprietary rechargeable batteries on the S5Pro camera which used NIKON lenses and was a phenomenal camera.

Who did you buy this from? What else was in that accessory kit?

That battery fits nothing made by Canon today that I know of. In the past some cameras and other things used it, I had a medium format camera that used it. And one high intensity compact flashlight.

The Bushnell and some other laser range finders use it. There are a variety of things that still use it, but not the T6.

As I stated in my OP: Canon Custom Accessory Pack, which included a lens cleaning kit, a UV filter and 2 3V Lithium CR2 batteries. The only additional info is: For Rebel 2000/IX Lite - S5.

I didn't actually purchase this; it was from my credit card rewards.
