Short story = I can't seem to save a PSD file larger that 2GB while I'm in PS/CC, to which I just subscribed to yesterday, I get an error message that the document is larger than 2GB.
Longer story = Running a Mac. OS 10.12.1
I'm trying to edit a file (jpg) where I want to create a reflection and water ripples. Part of the recipe is to create a new "Displacement map" document, and save it as a PSD file, which is where I get the error message....its to large.
I CAN save it (the map) as a PSB doc. but PS/CC will not read the PSB when I try to open and use the "Displacement map" through the "Filters" menu.
ANY thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Look for another recipe to follow. Using a jpg as the source file shouldn't generate huge edit files. What you're describing is quite a common effect and I suspect there are several different ways to achieve that effect. I suspect that any non-Adobe method won't result in huge files.
It sounds like the displacement map is a way to make the editing non-destructive and therefore reversible. If that isn't a must-have feature it should be easy to find other ways to create the "reflection with ripples" look.

Thanks! I just made the displacement map way smaller and it worked. I didn't realize that the map could be a different size than the original file.
Save it as psb. Psb is psd dor big files

I tried saving as a PSB file, which it would do, but PS would not then read the file as a filter. The only format that PS would read was PSD.
