Sandisk Recovery Program - it WORKS!

Just wanted to give kudos to Sandisk for its recovery program - http://www.lc-tech.com/pc/sandisk-rescuepro-and-rescuepro-deluxe/

I got complacent and used very well used Sandisk cards in my D750 for a wedding I shot on Saturday and when I uploaded almost 2000 images I only got about 1200 and a lot of error messages. To say I was distraught and kicking myself is an understatement but I tried to keep my cool and find an answer. I did. The aforementioned program.

I'm not posting this thread to hear all the things I SHOULD have done. I KNOW those answers and will not let this happen again.

I'm only posting this thread so that others know there is an answer. You don't even have to pay for this program until you know your images are recoverable. Then you can pay $39.99 and they all magically appear on your hard drive. And all were raw. Oh, and once you pay the program is yours for a full year.

It's worth checking out and I, for one, am very grateful that Sandisk has this program. My cards get very heavily used (at least 150,000 images per year between all my cards) and I re-format between every job. I've now ditched those 2 cards and purchased 4 new ones at Costco yesterday at $14.99 each. 32GB Extreme Plus 90 mb/s in case anyone is interested. I believe you can get them at Costco.com for probably free shipping too. I live near a Costco. I buy them this time every year. I shouldn't have waited for the sale though.

Happy shooting everyone! This is just an fyi as I said.

When you buy a Lexar SD card, you get a code number that allows you to download and activate an SD card recovery program that works on all manufacturer's SD cards. With the code, the recovery program is free.

Small point: The link provided takes one to the LC Technology International, Inc. site which rents this recovery software.

Don't kick yourself. SD cards don't come with expiration dates. Just because it's old or new, that doesn't mean it bad or good. That's why I like cameras with two SD slots.

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download

Testdisk and photorec are extremely good and free, they are command line and menu driven but they work on windows mac linux and pretty much any type of file system and sd cards, flash drives, hard drives. You pretty much answer a few questions specify a location to recover to and then wait for it to complete.

The most important thing is when files go missing stop writing to that drive because once a file is overwritten it is pretty much gone.
