Not sure if it will connect for US hoggers but, along with several million other Australians I'm sure, I have just spent over 2 hours watching the nationally televised 2nd ( 20 years on ) farewell concert of the band Crowded House. Apart from the spine tingling music, the setting in the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House with the Harbour Bridge in the background has to be a visual winner. Interestingly, while the band was big in the 1980's and the members age around 60, the average age of the audience seemed to be 30 ish!
It was on TV.
I am sure many people have seen photos of the Opera House and Bridge. I live 600 miles north of Sydney and have not visited in quite a while.
I saw Crowded House for the first time in the early 1980's when they opened for a Bruce Hornsby and The Range. They were playing at Massey Hall in downtown Toronto. This is one of the oldest performance houses in Toronto with wonderful accoustics and character.
They were fanstastic and it's the first time I ever saw an opening act come out for an encore.
For the record - Bruce Hornsby was also a phenomenal act that day - talk about getting your money's worth for a show.
