It's been a discussion on should I put my signature on my photos that I take. I think it shows people who the photographer is and their work that they do as a photographer. What do you think?
Not if you will enter them in competitions. Judges often require untouched originals in contests.
Fred thanks for that info....what about if your selling them?
Yes, sign or watermark them, unobtrusively. Should not look like advertisement. If a commission, be up front about the signature or watermark; don't surprise the client.
Of course, your camera should allow you to place your name in the metadata. Your PP software should also allow your copyright in the metadata. You'll have to set that info up in the software you use.

There have been a number of discussions on this subject. If you use the "Search" function at the top of the page you can find and read them.
mpryor42 there are no "best" answers on watermarker a.k.a. branding imagery...
That said there are generally accepted protocols in regard to specific genres...
If you are doing test creatives for an agency model it is just that... And the imagery needs to be sans branding of any nature... Especially since the agency is doing you a favor by allow collaboration with talent on its boards... Logos, watermarks etc will render the imagery virtually useless for agency talent... hope this makes sense...
For commcial clients it's best to resolve this prior to an assignment as to specifically what the client's expections are on deliverables...Experience can be a brutal teacher here...
One thing you'll likely notice is as the tenure and expertise of a photographer increases the likelyhood of them branding their imagery deminises proportionally... At the zenth of the industry no signature is needed since by then an artist's visual statement is so compellingly strong and well noted that their work is instantly reconnizable to those who matter.... i.e. publication editors, agency bookers, and such...
While this may not make sense to you now if you continue to work commercially within the industry I would wager that if you revisit this query again in several years there will be absolutely no question on what is appropriate and what isn't...
And as other have mentioned this query has been broached endlessly for decades and likely represents a search for establishing one's identity a.k.a. a rite of passage... Passing thru this stage is a ubiqious occurence and whlle it may at present seem important with time I'm certain you will arrive at what is right for you...
All the best on your journey...
Watermark or no Watermark, Nikon or Canon, Filter or No Filter. These are photograph questions that will never be finally answered. I had mine professionally done and use it for images posted online.

If IM posting something on line I add my signature (usually but not so much on this site ) . If Im printing a family portrait, I add my signature, then turn the photo over and run it thru the printer again
with name address phone# etc.
If Im shooting a model for her portfolio I do NOT put my name on the photo.

The question is about putting my signature on my photos or not. I think all the responses are great to know and realize when and when not to use signatures.

Best answer - it depends, mostly on personal preference and image destination.
