Beautifully done Brian. Are these shot with the Hyperstar III???
It sure looks like it with the Field of View. I took the western into Lightroom
and tweaked it a little, hope you don't mind. It's such a great shot I couldn't
resist.

Don't mind at all, it's shot with the RASA, so very similar to the hyperstar. Hope it helps figure out you exposure times. You can see what would happen to that bright star if I increase the exposure time.

I seem to have issues with posting photos too dark, it's not that dark on my PC. Also, you can tell the difference in size between the 8300 and the QHY12...I didn't think it was that much of a difference until you posted yours. For the most part, I think the 8300 is plenty big for most DS objects, but nice to have the bigger one for these larger objects.

Yes the smaller ones like Ring & Dumbbell will not be appropriate for that setup.
But there are many larger ones to keep me busy if I can get some clear skies.
With the longer exposure I get to much vignetting in the core of the shot.
I will take some Flats next time and work on the focus.

I didn't want to comment on this right away because I've never used a hyperstar setup. My first thoughts were not focused and too much light. Europa confirmed that.
But what a nice bunch of light you pulled in.
I haven't tried the veils yet because of my light pollution and not sure which of my beasts I should use anyway.
I'm sure you'll get the kinks worked out and the results will make us all smile.

Thank you very much Jim. I'm pretty sure your wider FV scopes would do it justice.

How wide? Do I need to drop to my 750mm newt or lower?

The 6" Newt should be a good idea Jim.
