to continue the saga of the Epson stylus photo 2200 I received for free. After many tries and several ink cartridges later I tried all the DIY on line tutorials. I bought the Magic Bullet cleaning system Well it worked wonderfully the printer is up and running without any problems. Thanks t all the Hoggers that answered my pleas for help.

Thanks for the update. I'll keep that in mind.

GREAT link! I hadn't heard of these folks before.
These folks have a complete line of supplies. They obviously know inkjet printing, especially Epson. They have a fair number of videos on printer maintenance.
They sell continuous inking systems and papers and inks, and provide custom profiles for customers' printers and their materials.
The Epson printers I have owned and seen have one big potential source of problems. Their ink cartridges only contain ink but not the printing head. In my experience their in-printer print heads are prone to clog. I only use HP and Canon printers whose cartridges include the heads. I have no experience with other reliable brands.

Now that the printer is up and running, you should consider printing a small test print every few days during times when the printer is mostly idle.
This could save you from headaches in the future.
Below is the link to the reference print that I use with my three printers.
I use it to test various icc paper profiles on the paper brands that I use and then compare the prints to what I'm seeing on my calibrated monitor.
The print doesn't have to be very big. Just enough to keep the inks flowing. I can get eight on a sheet.

Thank you Watcher. Just have one question when we are away for 2 months extended vacation anything you would or any others my suggest for keeping the printer from fouling in during this period. Would doing a cleaning of each of the heads before leaving home work.

That was the topic of another thread not long ago. I followed along for awhile and then got sidetracked, since I'm never away more than a few days.
Today, I search the site for that thread, to see if there were any useful suggestions. I haven't found it yet. Maybe I'm not using the right search terms.
Since these printers thrive on use, the only thing I could suggest is having someone exercise the printer while you're away.
Here's a Gamut file that will keep the juices flowing while you're away. Reduce the size to a smaller print. keeping the width.
Chated with the folks at magic bullet. 1 suggestion put on timer to turn on and off once a week this would put printer through it's paces and keep heads clean. Or 2 as I asked about doing a bullet cleaning each color and not reloading the ink until i returned would also keep heads clean.
Thank you again Watcher will check out the file you sent. Just concerned with having clogged heads it is a pain to deal with as you can imagine.

Just one thought about the timer idea.
You need to see if in fact the printer does turn on when the power is restored. On some printers a power outage will disengage the power switch.
