A long, long time ago,
In the land of idiot boys,
There live a cat, a phenomenal cat,
Who loved to wallow all day.

No one bothered him
As he sat, content in his tree.
He just lived to eat 'cause it kept him fat,
And that's how he wanted to stay.

Though he was big and fat,
All the world was good to him,
And he pointed out on the map
All the places he had been.

The Kinks

that gnarly graphic could make a kink's kover for a Phenomenal Kat. Tom looks big and strong, not FAT at all. I can not even begin to imagine how heavy that rope is. Holy Kow.

Neatl verse-and-photo! Love the old, worn, rope and wood together by themselves; the cat is a bonus.

It's a story if you say it is, no more, no less.

Love the kitty-king-of-the-rope-pile. Cool image. Did you find him there or "place" him there later? He looks a little odd/mismatched there, but maybe it's just because of the strange size of the rope or perhaps some perspective fix. I see there was a kitty get-together as there is one and maybe two more behind the post. And I do believe there may be a dead beaver crushed under the right hand side of the rope-pile. Check it out.

All in all not a bad shot. However, the cat looks totally out of place. Everything in front of the cat, and behind the cat is sharp. The kitty not so much, perhaps kitty shook his whole body as the shutter snapped. The hand extending through the bamboo, looks so much bigger than the cat. Either the cat is extremely small, or he doesn't belong there at all. If it is a composite, it is about a c+.

All kinds of body parts, human and critters, protruding here and there. You are so wonderfully talented with composites, Billy, why would you post such a poorly executed one?

And where is winterrose when we need him? Clean up on aisle six, please!

Glad to see I have another fellow member with an interest in song lyrics. We should form a separate section maybe with the emphasis on respect. Except if someone professes a liking for Billy Joel or God forbid Adelle!! Those type can be mocked mercilessly.
Thank you for dropping by Piet

The wood and rope were not enough for ol' Billy so Toby the cat stepped into the breach!!
Thank you for calling by my friend.

Toby was indeed placed there min as I found the image boring. Very FYCish in that it had great textures lines etc but that in itself induces loud snores from ol' Billy. Technically it was fine but with a modern camera and a decent lens in good light how could it be anything other technically sound? That's not me that the genius of Mr Nikon. So I plonked my pal Toby into the snap. The dead beaver is a mutt called Bo who is blind and may feature in a future, not to missed under any circumstances, posted snap.
The interesting thing here is actually not the snap but the reaction to it. In the past I have scoffed at the idea that FYC is a learning portal of any sort and the comments of some here just prove that it is not. Super quick to condemn the bad points of the composite but not one word of advice to improve it.
In case you did not hear me scoff at the falsehoods spoken here about learning and how we all work together to HELP one another please listen. Scoff scoff scoff.
Thank you for dropping by min your words always contain some wisdom but the learning bit appears misguided?

I think you got a bit of learning, though not a lot of help. Perhaps if you had said, up front, that you'd plopped that cat on the pile and asked questions about how to make him fit better, you'd have found more help. As it were, what you learned was that many people didn't buy it, and found something "wrong-looking" about it, even if they weren't composite specialists.

In truth, you have more skills at compositing than most of us, and few of us would have much more to offer in terms of fine tuning composites. I struggle with the basics of selections and don't get me started on channels. So now that I know for sure that it's a composite, I might have a few ideas but not many. The size seems a bit wrong, and all the cats I know would sink further into a pile of stuff rather than perch atop it. Shadow work might help some. But those are probably things you already know, and can mitigate more skillfully than I could. Which suggests you didn't really put your best effort forth here, or you had some other purpose.

We are a group of peers helping peers, and that process depends on the honesty of the OP in saying what they want and need, as well as the particular skills of the responders and their willingness to share. It's a two way street all the way down.
