Anyone have any recommendations for warm, waterproof gloves that I can actually use my camera equipment AND bend my fingers? I have yet to find a pair that fits both bills.

I just purchased a pair, also at B&H, made by RucPac because I specifically don't like the peel back finger tips. I have not had the opportunity to use them yet, but the seem comfortable. What I really liked were Lowepro's version but I am unable to find them and my older ones are beyond repair. Best of luck.

Check out your local sporting goods store. Gloves are made for shooters that have the index finger removed or will fold back to free up the index finger. they also make mittens that have a fold back to reveal the fingers. a cheaper alternative is to take a pair of existing gloves and cut off the tips of the finger/thumb areas and make your own custom glove.

Pair of thin latex gloves worn inside regular gloves or mittens. They stop the wind chill and are designed to give you grip and mobility, plus they are cheap enough to buy by the box full, so discard and replace once torn. They make getting your thick gloves off easier and ensure that your hands are dry. You can get things out of your pockets easily too. Get the ones WITHOUT chalk though!!

I use a two layer system; an inner layer of thin flexible gloves that can be exposed while adjusting the camera and an outer layer oversized mitten that I can stick hand warmers in. I think both sets were labeled "HEAD" and purchased at Costco. They only come in black.

I've used these Aquatech gloves for years when shooting out in the cold, as low as 28 deg F (friggin cold for California, let me tell you).

Keeps hands warm and dry, easy access to fingertips for camera controls.

Gloves for taking pictures usually come in two designs as mitts and as gloves. In the glove vesion each finger has a cap that you can fold down to expose the finger. In the mitt version there is a cover over the four fingers that you can lift back and there's a cap on the thumb.

I've used both.

The glove has the advantage of keeping each finger free to do its thing but I find the hand doesn't stay warm enough causing the fingers to slowy go numb. The glove version however tends to retain more heat and this keeps the fingers warmer longer.

The material is up to you. Both I've used were wool which tended to insulate better. I tried some nylon ones once and never again.

As to waterproof, I've never considered that an issue. If it's raining I don't need the gloves usually unless it's freezing rain in which case they don't get wet much anyway, they're too busy being frozen. And the rest of the time they stay dry with no problem.

I didn't like the gloves where your fingers stick out and then you put them back in. For me that's too much fumbling around; maybe you're more dexterous than me. I used the two layers and worked great.
I don't use any gloves at all any more

That's one solution to the freezing hands problem, move south.

Lol. We like go to Lake Michigan quite often in the winter to get picts of the frozen lighthouses. Waterproof is a must as is weatherproof. When it's -10° with 40mph winds, it is brutal. But the awesome shots are worth it.

I've been in extreme cold taking landscape photos. I personally like glomitts because I can manouever one or two fingers out of the mitten and keep the rest of my hand covered. The glomitts also have a space for a handwarmer pack in the mitten flap. If you are going to be using a tripod, make sure you have tripod leg insulating covers for the top sections, otherwise it's like handling ice cubes every time you hold the legs.

What brand of glomitts do you use?

I have big hands and I make out best by going to a Cabelas or Bass Pro and buying their store brand by best fit.
