I went to Longwood Gardens last week and here are some of my favorites. All taken with Nikon 105mm 2.8 micro lens, hand-held - no tripods allowed unfortunately.

Quite a nice group, Jane! I particularly like the closeness and perspective of the first one!

Very nice details in #1. And I love the composition of the lanterns!

Thanks, Bob. It's some kind of mum that was 6 feet tall and being that I'm only 5 feet, it was easy to get that shot.

Thanks, Carol. It's one of my favorite places to shoot. Very relaxing.

Thanks, Linda. They usually don't have the lanterns so that was a nice surprise.

Good morning Jane and it looks like you had a wonderful time at Longwood Gardens!!
Beautiful set to start the day and I love your ball of creamy butter in #1... and enjoyed them all, but what really does it for me is the composition, color and detail of the hanging lantern!!
Lovely set!!

Good morning to you, Angela. I'm glad you enjoyed these shots. They were having their Chrysanthemum Festival and the first shot is a 6 foot tall mum. They were gorgeous! As far as the lanterns go, they were something I've never seen there before. So they were a pleasant surprise.

6' Chrysanthemum.... wow!!! Do they change up the displays periodically and especially for Christmas?? I'm sure it has to be breathtaking for the holidays!

Yeah, 6'! Since I'm only 5'1" I was able to get a good perspective. They definitely change their displays and Christmas is awesome, inside and out. One of my favorites is in March when the blue Himalayan Poppies are blooming. Can't wait to shoot them. I hoping my husband will agree to be my assistant and hold a piece of velvet behind them for me!

That sounds awesome!!! I'm sure your husband will be happy to assist you!! Is he into photography like you?? Mine is definitely not, even though I got him a camera last Christmas.... most of the time he takes it along and never removes the lens cap!!! lol...
We have a wonderful garden near me that does the same and in February, they have a huge and gorgeous Camellia display!! I'm hoping I get to go this year.
Enjoy the day!!

My husband is not into photography at all either. He goes along for the ride and I can tell when it's time to go by the look on his face! lol
