I have one and it rarely comes off my Nikon 5100. I have had it about a year and a half. It has been used frequently.

Here is a photo my wife took with her d5100 with the sigma 18-250 hand held and heavily cropped. Not too shabby.

I have used a Sigma 18-250 for several years now. It only has one lock position and tends to creep when unlocked and pointed much over level (either pointed up or down). On the plus side-it is one tough lens. I took a fall in rocks and the camera went flying. I thought I had lost my camera and lens. Well the truth is, neither the camera (Pentax K5) or the lens were damaged. They are still a team and in use quite often.

Not shabby at all. Good to see your wife is not afraid of cridders

She loves all that sort of things. Turtles, snakes, all sorts of bugs. That frog was on her hand. She held the camera in one hand and just started shooting and hoping she got a good one.
