Perhaps so. Dak Prescott makes great on-field decision, though he is not really a prolific passer. He is the beneficiary of a really good running attack. Romo is a Hall of Fame candidate, but now old and fragile. He is less likely than Prescott to withstand the pounding of opposing defenses and carry the Cowboys into the playoffs.
Romo never had a team quite this good. This is Prescott's year. The question will be if the Cowboy's want to hang on to Romo's 20 mil. salary over the off-season. If so, we'll have a quarterback battle next year.

Right. Romo often had to carry the team on his back, then take unnecessary criticism for how badly he allegedly played in the clutch. The record, especially in the fourth quarter, on the other hand, showed that he was clearly one of the very best.
Traditionally, players don't lose their starting status because of injury, they are supposed to get it back when they are healthy. And Jerry Jones has been saying that Romo will return when he is healthy, although he didn't judge him to be ready today. But with the way Prescott is playing, it might not be wise to mess with the chemistry of a winning team. If Prescott were to have a bad game that might justify it. If Romo does return, he will be under a lot of pressure to perform. At any rate, having two good QBs is a good thing for the team.

Yeah, well....don't forget Wally Pipp.
Romo is no hall of famer. (IMHO)
Jerry Jones has no honor, so Romo's status is pretty much up in the air. Dak Prescott is having a good rookie season, but lots of QBs have had one or two good seasons. (RG III, for example.)
Since I can't stand the Cowboys (because of Jones), I'd rather see Romo playing for another team next season, one that can get a few good years out of him. He'd be an improvement over Cutler on the Bears, but that's not saying much. Romo has gotten hurt a lot over the years due to poor offensive lines.
I tend to agree that Romo's not quite Canton material.
I don't know room's stats, but I've nener considered him h.o.f. material.

I agree that Dak is doing great but Dallas may want to keep Romo for a couple of reasons. Dak may be a one year wonder and Romo has proved his worth (though he is getting older and may be inching toward retirement). Secondarily, do you think Dallas wants to trade him or have him go free agent and end up facing them from another really good team? It might, in the long run, be less expensive for Dallas to keep him for at least another year or so to see how Dak matures and responds. Romo might end up on another really good team that just needed a solid quarterback while they either wait for a "learner" to mature or get someone better through the draft.
Believe me wait till it's time to play real football, like our Rangers they always run out of gas.

The same thing happened when Tom Brady took over for Drew Blesdoe. I think Brady #4 on the charts.
We've seen what happens to the Cowboys when their #1 quarterback has gone out in the past. You always need a good backup. The last really good backup that I remember was Earl Morall.
Romo seems too fragil to be in the NFL. Retirement would be a good thing for him.
I started reading this wondering who Tony Room was on the tv show Dallas. lol then I saw that you were talking about cowboys and I thought, oh football. Thank you for the smile this early in the morning.
